Jersey Flegg began as an under-19s age group until the NRL was formed in 1998, and was originally held as part of the NSWRL's junior representative season that was played over nine-to-12 weeks early in the season.

The Jersey Flegg Cup consist of 12 NSWRL clubs: 11 existing NSW-based sides, as well as the Victorian Thunderbolts.

There’s not many, they’ll likely struggle this year.

Club’s aim looks like it’s to move the SG Ball boys into the Flegg team when that season is finished, because most of the players named for the side now aren’t future prospects.

Those playing on Sunday that trained with first grade over pre-season are: Trey Peni (full-time), Sione Vaihu (did a few sessions), Zane Camroux (full-time), Lomi Saukuru (full-time, Top 30 member).

No Tannous, Tofaeono at all. Tuipolutu on the bench. far from our strongest side, and that's not even including future sg ball promotions.

Man, this team is awful. Completed at 40%. Dropped it on the first tackle at least 8 times. Forwards got annihilated. Backs are small and slow and the halves are both pathetic
Best to bring up the sg ball boys ASAP.

We lost 26-16. Roosters had a heap of big and powerful Fijians in the forwards and backs. Partnership with the silktails paying off. Roosters' penalties the only thing kept us in the game.

Yeah I feel this side will be used more as a transition year for our higher ranked SG Ball talents.

Keep in mind, this team is a reflection of Ronald McDonnell and some of his signing preferences. There are a few in that team that must have amazing management, or nepotism is still alive and well.
It was a very weak Roosters side too.

Really? Was it his three hit ups, 4 missed tackles or 2 dropped balls that impressed you most?

He was useless. One run in the entire first half. For an NRL contracted forward he was embarrassing

They were nearly all SG ball players from last year, as well as Camroux. Only a few new faces, who were all poor.
Will be tough putting a bunch of 17-18 year olds up against 21 year olds but it might need to happen...
 
I thought Saukuru at least ran the ball strongly and took sone putting down.
Anjoul is strong running the ball from dummy half, but needs to cut out his errors.
Camraux is a good runner of the ball, but doesn’t do it enough. Coach should be instructing him to be more selfish and look to make a line break by running the ball 3-4 times per half.
Owen seems to run the ball and defend ok.
Nielsen likewise has something to offer.
Nicholas is a good little trier, but seems a bit small to be an effective 13, maybe a change to 9 ?

Nicholas plays both 9 and 13.
