Jersey Flegg Team List Rd 11 vs Bulldogs

We lost 24 to 12. Pretty disappointing considering we dropped a lot of players back from NSW Cup. Bulldogs only seemed to drop back Hoffman from NSW Cup (who scored 2).

Missed opportunity to put a bit of a gap between us in 4th and Sharks in 5th.

Just seen a @balmain boy tweet. Tupou picking up a hand/wrist injury.

pretty disappointing considering the players we dropped down maybe there not as good a side as people think they are 2 weeks ago south’s beat us and they were running last

Wow that sucks! Let's hope it's not too bad and he is back out playing soon. We need him getting as much experience as possible on the field in NSW Cup this year (preferably in the position they see his NRL career going too!).

Bugger thought we would smoke them
There is no denying this club has a loosening culture

Everytime i look at the Flegg team it looks so different. Players coming in players going out for whatever reason. It never seems a constant. Have we so many young up comers that we can keep doing this? Seems so coz we sit pretty on the ladder.. i only hope these kids will change things for us. Developement club. Bring it on Tim.

Look this was a very disappointing game for us. Very disjointed, no-one was on the same page, we looked clueless and out of sync. Dogs also played some players from Nsw cup but were a much hungrier and more efficient team. Dogs probably had 60%+. They ran harder, tackled harder and just played to win while our guys were going through the motions.

Really there wasn't a single good player for us from this game. The defence of our forwards was incredibly disappointing. Our pack got dominated. O'Kane had no impact on the game and got brushed off in defence a few times. Fainu went off with an injury in first half but came back on with 15 or so to go. Tuki was invisible. Pole worked hard but wasn't noticeable. Lolesio made a couple of decent runs and tackles but also made some poor errors. Vaihu very error prone.

In the backs it seems clear that Bula is a winger, yet we persist with him at fullback. He's an athletic player but with no ball playing skills, he's a runner and finisher. Tupou has been playing fullback in nsw cup yet played wing in his match and looked very unsure of what to do out wide. Several times he was in a one on one with his opponent 5m out but he couldn't decide whether to go for the corner or step inside and his delayed step inside was covered by the defence. His last attempt to score in the corner resulted in an awkward motion where it looked like the tackler landed on his wrist as he reached out, he was down for a couple of mins then went off after that.

The general kicking game of our halves was very poor. Camroux did try a few short chips after noticing the fullback was deep but they were all too deep/short and came to nothing other than giving them field position.

LSaukuru touched the ball a couple of times, a very lazy player. Delle got pushed into touch at least once and doesn't seem up to this grade at this stage. Picken was erratic. A couple of very strong runs and then twice dropped it while playing the ball on the first, and made some both good and bad reads rushing in from defence. Lomi came on in the middle of the match, and went off later in the game after hurting his hand.

The team really missed having Tumeth and Matamua out there. Matamua provides the ball playing to what is otherwise an extremely one dimensional pack, Tumeth runs and tackles hard, something that these boys all lacked. With Tannous out as well we seemed a bit slow around the ruck.

Perhaps it was just an off day but this really was a terrible performance, albeit against a reasonably strong opponent. Their half was excellent, kicking was superb, and they had a couple of big forwards that made ours look tiny in comparison. Our inability to stop forwards offloading within our 20m line was a big part of them scoring.

from all reports during the year it seems .Tuki has lost all motivation

I think we need a chill pill. The dogs stacked their team with Cup players too, not just Hoffman. The dogs Cup team smashed us twice. This was never an easy game.

The Dogs flegg halfback looks an amazing prospect. He put on a clinic. Amazing kicking game and ran their team beautifully. Teams will come for him if the Dogs aren't careful. Their 6 is a decent player too.

In saying that, the tigers had some terrible handling. I counted about 6 times dropped ball in tackles on tackle 1. Tupou was responsible for a few. Poor old Lomi dropped his 1st carry. The fullback had an unhappy game. The ref was also atrocious, he allowed the dogs to be offside all game and penalised us about 4 times for holding down too long, but never penalised dogs for the same.
Solid return for O'Kane, Pole did his job. You can see a big difference in fitness of the guys doing full-time training to the other flegg guys. Overall a very frustrating game to watch.
Defence is a weak point. The penalty’s were lob sided because our boys failed to over power the dogs boys in the ruck. That lack of ruck control has plagued us since our existence. If we could get on top of the speed of the game with our forwards we’d be making inroads.
Instead were relying on luck to win a game.
I don’t think I’ve seen one other club in all grades use their backs from deep in our own end more than the tigers.
Where are the forwards?
If they are not making solid tackles, getting tackle breaks, taking tough carrys, getting the opposition on their back in the ruck; what are they good for?
