Jersey Talk - Mega Thread

Originally started at Easts juniors before moving over to Souths juniors, but made his first grade debut for Wests. For the discussion purpose I think he counts.
east - south all the same shite to me 😎

Yes Jim counts.
I have him on my signed white Magpies jersey.

Yeh well, I guess supposedly older wiser men from the Balmain side of our forced marriage don't have any need to bicker about club colours/animal emblems anymore as you have got a modern, fresh, clean jersey that represents the Tiger perfectly as noted by nearly every poster on here.

The only pointer to Western Suburbs Magpies is 3 miniature Magpies which you can't even see if you are more than 20 ft. away.

Our new fans probably won't ever notice the Magpies, as they know nothing about the Magpies or Western Suburbs.
Or, if they do see it, they'll wonder what the hell the Magpies are on the jersey for and why on earth are we called WESTS Tigers.

I guess this wouldn't be such a problem to thousands of Wests Magpie followers if it wasn't for the fact that Wests Magpies own 90% of our JV but only have a miniscule amount of representation on the jersey.

A couple of days ago a poster on here suggested the Tiger emblem on the jersey should be larger. That was followed by a number of up votes in agreement.

However, when I suggested the Magpie could also be larger, I was put down for it and told I had a mental problem amongst other things.

And that RHS is the way it's been since I joined in 2019 for having what's obviously regarded by nearly everyone on here as temerity in sticking up for the Magpies on a site heavily dominated by Balmain people.

And it just aint fair.
Mate I think that the majority of forum members like me don't give a rats about the foundation clubs and just concentrate on Wests Tigers exclusively, as it should be.

As for the jersey representing the tiger more, I guess you can put it solely down to the law of the jungle, the bigger predator wins.

BZN,

First up this site is not heavily dominated by "Balmain People". The site is heavily dominated by Wests Tigers supporters and there several "Wests Magpies people" and "Balmain people" who haven't let go of the past.

The issue you are facing is not your temerity for sticking up for the Magpies on a site dominated by Balmain people. The issue is that the Wests Tigers supporters are aligned with the branding decision made when the JV was established and are on the same bus. If the decision back then was that the JV would be known as the Balmain Magpies then your issue may be valid. But it wasn't.

As pointed out on numerous occasions there is a link in the colour scheme to both foundation clubs and there are historical links on the jumpers to Balmain and Wests, along with the two Magpies on the sleeves. The Magpies on the sleeves maintains the nod to our history. Any new fans will notice and ask the question as to why when they buy a jumper. Your assumption that young people are stupid or ignorant is unfounded.

If you have an issue the place to take it is to the Wests Tigers Board through HBG. HBG is owned by 20 debenture holders who have five board members (71.4%) and two members elected from Wests Ashfield General Membership (28.6%). The membership of Wests Ashfield is approximately 27000. So 0.07% of the Wests Ashfield Members are debenture holders who have 61.4% ownership of Wests Tigers, Wests Ashfield General Members have 25% and Balmain have 10%. If you are frustrated with the colours and the representation you need to look no further than "your side" for the solution.

Let me be blunt: the only people who are capable of instituting change are the debenture holders as they hold all of the decision making power - and they are all "Magpie People". If you want change lobby the members, or become a debenture holder and fight for change there.

While that is happening in the background perhaps you could contribute positively to the discussions on making Wests Tigers a premiership threat.
Also the predominant white jersey with black trims/ stripes etc . Was a magpies jersey long before it was even a thought at wests tigers . So if anything the “magpies have history with that style of jersey as well.
I don’t remember there ever being a white Balmain jersey . I’ve listened to people talk about it , and one guy goes after discussing the he New Jerseys “but black is always what you think when you think magpies “ …. WHO IS THINKING ANYTHING ABOUT A BIRD ON A WESTS TIGERS JERSEY!… one has nothing to do with the other . Canterbury were brought in to create jerseys for the Wests Tigers ….

I’m so sick of this dogshit debate. It’s soo dumb !

Not even dude ! It’s because the emblem on the jersey is a tiger …

so why would the club engage a designer to design around a magpie

It’s like I have plumbing company called Tigers Plumbing .. and my mascot is a Unicorn 🦄 …

But the team isn't the Wests Magpies, its the Wests Tigers hence the colours of a Tiger which are predominantly Orange and White with black stripes. The Wests Magpie and Balmain Tiger are on the back of the jersey which is enough to represent the the two joint venture clubs that made the Wests Tigers.
And the KOE side should be wearing the Wests Tigers colours while we are on this WT jersey Topic.
Any side representing the Wests Tigers brand should wear the Wests Tigers colours.
Balmain and Wests should only be a symbolic patch of a bygone era on the Wests Tigers jersey.
Let's grow up and be serious of a joint venture club.
