As of RIGHT NOW he has been given permission to seek another club. Interesting?

@Zach Very good player, but the fact that he get's dropped then asks for a release is a bit of a worry. Who's to say he won't butt heads with Madge and drop his bundle here?

swap him with any of our guys that are on the outer. Maybe do straight swap with reynolds so grub can link up with Klemmer again.....

of course we'll have to make up the cap difference in wages but it would be a plus

Would have thought someone would have mentioned this by now..

Comes with risk for sure but if that's built into his eventual price and/or his contract, why wouldn't you at least try?

Didn't Ese Ese and Levi also get told they can go elsewhere?
Maybe Liddle swap to Knights for any of these?
Might explain why he's been left out....
Pure and unadulterated speculation on my part though....

NRL star Jesse Ramien forced out on the spot after falling out with coach
AUGUST 1, 201911:50AM

A dispute with coach Nathan Brown has seen a Newcastle star cut on the spot when their simmering feud reached boiling point.

Star centre Jesse Ramien has been cut by Newcastle on the spot and given permission to find a new club after a heated falling out with coach Nathan Brown.

The club confirmed on Thursday Ramien has been told his services are no longer required in Newcastle — and the 22-year-old is now actively looking for a new home.

The club’s announcement came after a report from The Daily Telegraph which outlined how Brown told Ramien after training on Wednesday that he did not need to bother showing up for another training session. Ramien was one of four players axed when the Knights’ announced their team on Tuesday night to face the Sea Eagles on Saturday following their loss to the Wests Tigers last weekend.

According to the report, tensions have been simmering between Brown and Ramien for a number of weeks as the club’s finals hopes have slipped away with a surprising streak of poor performances since the end of the State of Origin period.

The newspaper reports Ramien’s axing was motivated purely by his recent performances and there is understood to be no off-field issues or behavioural reasons behind Brown’s decision to cut him loose. Ramien was singled out after the club’s disastrous round 18 loss to the Roosters and he reportedly had his attitude questioned by club officials.

Despite the tension between the coach and star recruit, the Knights released a statement on Thursday to wish Ramien all the best for the rest of his NRL career. “The Newcastle Knights have granted Jesse Ramien permission to negotiate with other clubs,” the statement claimed. “The decision this week to drop Ramien from the NRL side prompted discussions for the centre to find a new home. “These talks were mutual and the Knights have given Ramien’s management approval to negotiate. “The Knights wish him all the best.”

Brown also axed Danny Levi, Herman Ese’Ese and Jamie Buhrer for the game against Manly. Levi and Ese’Ese have also been given permission to find other clubs.Ramien began the 2019 season with a sniff of earning a NSW State of Origin jumper after a break-out 2018 with the Sharks.

He earned a significant pay-rise when he accepted a two-year deal with Newcastle, but it’s all gone horribly wrong since then.

Don't forget Newcastle also had to shed a player to fit in that Sharks player under the cap. Probably Damien going served 2 purposes in freeing up cap space and coach dislike. I'd take a punt on him seeing as Newcastle will have to put in some money.

Nah some club will take his full contract .....not many quality centres in the NRL

I think Mbye is a better defensive organiser and gets himself in a better position more often at full back, he also has a better passing game and can act as a extra playmaker. Thompson is better at supporting line breaks and running against a broken defensive line.

We get far better value from Mbye at fullback when he is confident and playing well.

Mbye is inconsistent his best is good but for years it’s once every few games. Bad value for money

Ramien and Ese Ese would be ideal Tiger recruits with plenty of upside.
I would keep Mbye in the centres and move Marsters to lock or the bench if he does not pick up his work load.
