You don't have to. They're the rules in place to keep the competition going and he broke them twice. You don't have to agree or understand. You just have to follow the rules.

What other rule did he break?

Same one twice

Did he go on the balcony twice?

If the NRL was fair dinkum they would have canned the season after the numerous breaches - whole thing is a joke - why not take the competition offshore - play the rest of the season on Hamilton Island - i'm over this BS.

If there's genuine concern for his mental health the club should send him home to Sydney and make sure someone looks after him when he gets back. Player welfare rules above winning games.

I gotta say mate , I ? disagree , especially with a guy who’s very open , and would have formal diagnosis’ in regard to his mental health .
This was outlined a billion times as a topic point , in general society , at the start of the pandemic , and I know Justin general conversation , that the mental health of those I’m talking to is deteriorating rapidly , in this lockdown .
I honestly feel sorry for him, because I really don’t think he would have been actively skirting the rules .

I know - its completely unbelievable. lol

what a joke.

we could play the mental health card, play the indigenous card against Queensland and the NRL

Pascoe on prime time news saying "he went on the balcony mate"

It’s crazy. Who was he going to catch covid from, a seagull? There needs to be some common sense applied to these sort of things. If he gets suspended it’s a complete joke.

I can see him getting suspended. He’s an easy target
Fringe first grader from a struggling club. NRL needs to make a strong lead on this to appease QLD politics. The chief doctor up there has way to much power.

The St George players got 1 week, no way Roberts will be suspended.

So he legit just went out on the balcony… for fresh air… Jeeze the worlds gone crazy..

Fair dinkum. Rules are rules. If you want to throw a hand grenade into the competitions viability, go ahead and break them. QLD is tough on this covid thing. Everyone knows it and he is arrogant enough to thumb his nose at both those allowing the competition to run as well as all of his fellow footballers. I've stuck up for him ever since he arrived and wished him well. I now want this idiot gone.

Nrl should be kicked out.

He was also a considered a close contact of someone so wasn’t with the team .

I’m sure all other returning travellers can’t go on balconies - even without prior mental health issues they would be suffering as well .

They had to tape up their balcony doors which was noted in the papers yesterday . So he deliberately opened it up .. if he was suffering why didn’t he ask for permission .

Anyway I blame nrl and the club … if he couldn’t handle it , he should never have been sent up to qld

And if he’s having suicidal thoughts and a panic attack , which from his childhood , and abuse , he’s outlined in a few podcasts , is 100% likely, what then ?
To compare him to people entering the country ,with COVID specifically , or , coming from countries with 30,000 daily , as a minimum , is ridiculous.
The guy gets tested , almost daily , from what I understand.
The 2 week lockdown is fine , but , to have him , and those simply travelling interstate , with no symptoms , and multiple tests in the previous 2 weeks , be treated as someone returning from places like India , is draconian .

The amount of testing is the key , to why this is ridiculous .

Don’t get me wrong I think the rules are overkill , but end of that day that is the Qld government requirements as he was a close contact of a positive case ( no different to him coming from covid infested country - whom have to do test prior to flights be negative , and have regular tests as well ).

If he was having those thoughts (which from the pic it didn’t appear but looks can be decieving ) then as I said I blame the nrl and tigers, as he should not have been sent up to qld in first place If not capable of following quarantine rules .

You have to remember the nrl have been allowed to operate when many other business have not been allowed too.. if they can’t follow the requirements in place to operate (regardless of how silly they may be )they don’t deserve to continue .

This isn't that bad but yeah, we shouldn't offer him a deal going forward.

He simply isn't that good anymore.
Good luck to him though.

Just as a side note , there’s no way on earth qld government would kick out the NRL . For starters it would basically be career suicide . And secondly , any chance of ever hosting a grand final or things like magic round , the all stars game etc . And say what you will those things cause a huge money injection when they’re on.
Especially with the amount of money the state is about to bleed on olympics infrastructure in the next 10 years .

That’s not true , that’s just political spin . The huge influx and generation of wealth by staging all those games there are the main reason the games are on .
To imply that the games are because the Queensland government are being charitable is laughable .
If it was the national ultimate frisbee league , then there’s no way that the season would continue .

In terms of seriousness its not great, however with the spotlight on the nrl in qld it does make a target. In normal circumstances I'd guess a suspended fine but maybe a bit more this time around

I’d like to think this but the rhetoric coming from the chief doctor in the recent past is concerning…for her to basically say “she’s close to kicking the NRL out” (Jul 23rd) boggles my mind.

I had no idea their doors are taped up.... God bless Jimmy, out of onfield performance fam as another human being, heart goes out to him.

i hope the tigers take it easy on him regardless what the NRL decide to do.

The Premier will over ride Dr Jeannette Young, if it means hosting the NRL finals.

I feel for James with this. He has well documented mental health issues and to be locked up on his own can’t be good for him at all. I’m surprised he went up there at all. Hopefully sanity prevails and the whole picture is taken into consideration. He just went on a balcony, leave it be

I guess when you know his background and issues ...you wonder why we brought him up here ...just asking for trouble ...something we are experts at .....
