Jnr Development Signings

Can someone Tweet WT and advise them they haven’t included any of the Development players in our official squad list…

If anyone wants to watch our Aussie schoolboy players you can get a free stream of all their UK matches by downloading the 'Our League' app from the App store or Google Play.

Talau looks a lump of a 5/8 or backrower!

Talau definitely has a powerful build, hoping he will develop very well for us.

Anyone able to comment on the ability of our Schoolboys development players? Madden, Talau and Cini.

On face value seems a good crop of signings, based on reputation, but I haven't seen the kids play yet.

Have read a few posts from some on here, including PawsandClaws, that keep an eye on the junior competition and they have waxed lyrical about the quality of our signings, with getting them a real coup. They have me really looking forward to seeing them prosper.

A quick list, there probably a lot more. but except for one, accelerated progression and talent.

Marshall
Seve
T’eo
Woods
Tedesco
Moses
Brooks
Liddle
Mikaele
Smith
Talau
Madden
Cini

Cini scored 4 tries for Aus schoolboys overnight VS Englad Colleges. Aus won 92-0

Wests Tigers young guns Jock Madden, Tommy Talau and Zac Cini were the standouts of that game. We have a lot of young players coming through which is a good thing but we need to give them a chance at top grade. I know thay are schoolboys but soon they will need to know what top grade is like

Kelly Egan is quietly doing a top line job in terms of junior recruitment. He has history in this area astute operator.

I think you'll find its David Warwick Tyga…

Having just watched the first game of the schoolboys I must admit to being a tad disappointed with how our young boys played. No one was poor, but there were some real standouts but our boys were largely invisible.

Cini scoring 4 is of course great, but they were ones where he could stroll across the line unopposed, so we couldn't really see what he has to offer.

Madden's goal kicking was good but it was mainly the hooker, fullback and right centre that ripped them to shreds. Not sure our boys made a single break in a 90 point thrashing.

Yep, give all the SG Ball and HM boys a run as well - give them a taste.

Don't worry about the NRL team making the finals though.

I've heard some sill suggestions - this takes the cake. Lol

With due respect, how can you legitimately make a critique off the back of a 92-0 score? Every man and his dog lining up for tries, broken tackles and line breaks everywhere. Esp when Tigers players were #6, #5 and #19?

Any match where a winger crosses 4 times is a good outing, even if he's not making line breaks himself. He doesn't need to, with the rest of the side making breaks so easily. And Madden at 5/8th, he just needs to move the ball around and find the big boys, not be doing it all himself.

They'll face a sterner test from the Academy side?

**Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that promising young forward Henry Lealuga-Puhotau will join the club’s 2019 Development Squad effective immediately.**

Lealuga-Puhotau has signed a new three-year deal that sees him move in to the club’s Development Squad effective immediately in 2019 through to 2020 before joining the extended NRL squad on a full-time basis in 2021.

A Wests junior who played his junior representative football with the Balmain Tigers, Lealuga-Puhotau trained full-time with the NRL squad throughout the pre-season — impressing Coach Michael Maguire with his development and work ethic.

“It’s great to have Henry step up now in to our Development Squad,” Maguire said.

“He has worked really hard during the pre-season, and we’re looking forward to seeing him take the next steps in his career with us at Wests Tigers."

Still only 18 years old, Lealuga-Puhotau will feature in the [club’s Jersey Flegg team against the Bulldogs] this Sunday alongside the club’s four other Development Players in 2019 — Jock Madden, Tommy Talau, Alex Seyfarth and Kane Bradley.

Good on him. Was obviously in the club's plans for the future. No need to rush him but i look forward to his improvement over the coming years
