Jock Madden #244

Unfortunately Jock has no running game, so doesn’t put the defence in two minds. He is good depth providing Latu and Javon hold up. There was a couple of occasions that a good running half could have taken advantage of in today’s game. Having said that, he sure can nail a field goal thank heavens.

Great depth squad member but he will not lift us into the eight. Maybe if we had a super strong pack he could be the seven we have been looking for, but to me he is your depth half

The problem is, we don’t have a starting half in front of him currently on squad.
As these guys don’t grow on trees, we really need to work with Jock and strengthen the team around him.

Jock in the side showed how much we need a genuine number 7.

For mine, we'd be crazy not to keep him around for a few more seasons.
A few more seasons? If we can’t sign anyone better and have to sign him for multiple signings, the club might as well pack it in.

Geez mate. The team has a good record when he's playing and then the bloke plays a major role in beating the Roosters and kicks the winning field goal and that's not enough for you?

I get that he's no Nathan Cleary, but with only 40 or so games under his belt in the most difficult position, I'd say there could be a lot of upside.

As others have said, Jock played well but he is not the answer at 7. The question is: is Latu the answer? I still think he is a 6. So we may have the same issue of too many 6s

One decent game against a side completely off their game isn’t worthy of a long term contract. Take the emotion the emotion out of it.

One of the reasons for Jock's success is that he doesn't have a strong personality. He's a team player and yes, he may not possess all the attributes of a top line half, but he does a job for WTs. A comment was made to me by a supporter of the Dragons that we could do with less strong personalities in the team. Well done Jock yesterday.
