Jock Madden

Thought the young bloke did OK today given the quality of the opposition. Think we might have a real keeper here.

People want Brooks gone so bad they're willing to throw blind praise at Madden.

Madden is much worse than Brooks.

Madden has had 1 x 80 minute NRL game against the best halves in the NRL and did little wrong. Needs a lot of work yes, but he showed promise. You are comparing him to 150+ game veteran, really. I would not expect Madden to be better than Brooks at this stage of Madden’s career.

Sorry, not comparing current Madden to Brooks.

Just IMO, what Madden could potentially be will not be close to what Brooks is as a player.

My opinion is that he's not the guy to replace Brooks. That's all.

baa hum bug

Exactly….all these Madden knockers ….WTF are they basing their opinion on? He’s hardly had a chance to shine with COVID interruptions and he was the halfback of the Ron Massey cup team that was killing it earlier in the year…. With the deadwood the first grade team has carried all year, game after dogged game after dogged game, humiliation after disappointment week in week out with so called big name marquee players embarrassing the club at milestone games all year and yet the people on here are willing to write Madden off based on WHAT? Seriously what are some of you people on? Did people not see Mbye with his stunt routine efforts of not putting his body on the line but looking exciting while doing it? Can you people not see it? But you keep saying Mbye gives good service or is a good utility when it’s crap? He has cattted it all year for us but Madden has desire and would -play his heart out to build a career in first grade…. You really do my head in,,, like really what game are some of you people watching?

Madden will improve....but while your knocking Mbye....

Madden isnt a fullback and Mbye was all we had to face one of the best teams in the comp...

Daine Laurie might be that player at 6 that could compliment Madden. You could progress Dillon but that is just forward thinking. It is nothing practical at this stage.

We can't just keep coping and changing our spine.

Very big step up in class for him today which he handled OK.

Our players turned up today which helps him. This should give him a good taste to push himself for next year.

He's only contracted for the year so I think we should definitely give him a shot to confirm whether he is our future.

If the club is finally off Brooks could go 6 Hastings 7 Madden.

He's got plenty of heart and gets another chance next week. Absolutely zero threat in attack though.

You obviously have not seen much of him then, hey! He’s quick , got a step off both legs and can break a tackle… got a nice dummy, teriffic hands and a reliable kicking game. He is confident, smart and tough and ultra competitive… captained the schoolboys rep teams and has not missed a beat his junior career in that he achieved just about every milestone possible…..IMO he’s a deadset no brainer in that he’s part of a young nucleus at this club that could develop into a bit of a dynasty if managed properly

I'm going to pay homage to Sheens to welcome him home.

13 Hastings
9 Brooks
7 Jock
6 Daine or Someone
3 Doueihi
1 Someone or Daine

14 Simpkin or Liddle

And just in case you agree with the above, Nofo at prop.

Play Noffa at prop, until he learns to run straight and forwards and not to,slow down before he gets to the line….. also he may learn to mark up ,,, if he can do all this he may become a decent first grader

Looked okay, seems to play very similar to Brooks. Interested to see how he goes next week.

Doesn’t look physically strong enough to threaten in attack or defence in the NRL yet. Needs to bulk up.

I've seen him play 2 games of first grade. I've seen a few reserve grades, but that's against reserve-grade opposition.

Not bagging the bloke, he played better than I expected and I could tell he was trying his heart out.

BUT Penrith were not concerned with him one bit. The big units ran at him all day. It's not enough to have the junior history, he needs more strings to his bow.

Saw him a few times earlier in the year and didn’t think he lived up to the hype but was pleasantly surprised today.
Came out of a baptism of fire against a star studded Penrith team with his head held high.
Sure he missed a few tackles … but just about every half Kikau targets does (including star tackler Brooks, who missed 8 tackles himself).
Was very unlucky twice with kicks from long range, in a strong wind, just dribbling over the dead ball line… and didn’t kick any backwards lol.
Hope the kid can have a good one against an improving Bulldogs next week.

Maybe he can get some supplements from the Penrith 6/7

100%, they must be eating some really high protein chicken at the foot of the mountains, the 7 is the obvious one, but there’s a few others, , just remember the nswrl including some prominent figures, covered up xerris food abuse since he was 14), anyway good on young jock getting a run in first grade, hopefully plays next week and improves his confidence even further in the top grade.

Is this the same sort of food abuse that causes ridiculous amounts of acne that one young star half had a while back?

I thought Nofa had his best game since his re-signing. I often wonder why he runs backwards?

He still does have that acne tho ?

He had a solid game. I don’t think he’ll ever be a game breaker. Watching him in state cup he’s not overly creative but showed yesterday that he has a decent boot on him and has heart.

I think his strength will lie in organising the team and kicking well. I hate comparing players but I view him in a similar mould to Chad Townsend.

I wonder why its taken him 24 rounds to produce what he gets paid big money and an extension for....he is one that should be playing like he did yesterday to set an example that the younger guys look to strive for every week....😕
