people writing him off, bagging his efforts on lower grades that they haven’t even watched?

I've watched him a couple of times and he wasn't great.

>What gives? I’ve been waiting for him to get a start for 2 years. I think he’ll kill it and be a star for the next decade… he was raised to be an NRL player and has not disappointed at any point along the way!

I hope you are right. He isn't a big guy. It's going to be tough especially against Penrith.

I'm definitely not writing him off. I won't write him off if he has a poor game this week either.

Poor young Jock is on a hiding to nothing on Sunday .....

He is going to cop it isn't he. He'll be the smallest player on the field with a massive forward pack running at him all day.

Maybe Madge is testing Jocks intestinal fortitude,to see how he goes while under pressure....guaranteed he is going to be surrounded by a heap of pressure, not just from Penrith but our blokes as well....he is only small and to expect him to carry the team certainly will add pressure...:disappointed_relieved:

Jock showed guts washing the balls on Saturday ....10/10 ...earned his spot in the side

He's in for a baptism of fire.

I can't see many other options given our injuries but at least he'll be able to say he didn't get a soft starting debut.

A baptism of fire is more than most of our players have been through and it will show how much spirit and courage he actually has. Spirit and courage is something most of our players don't have but I don't expect to follow in their direction.

I'm not too confident. I haven't been particularly impressed by what he has had to offer in State Cup. And if someone doesn't stand out at that level I can't see them doing much at NRL level.

Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Fair to say he did prove me wrong.
Good game.

He's a good player. Sure his defence could improve during the off season but he is a junior rep half coached by Fittler.

Like all young halves he needs some support from his back rower coming into grade.
Poor old Luch let him down in that area by being gassed and out of position on a number of occasions when Penrith ran their big boys at him.

doesn't shy away in defence, kicks well, not afraid to take the line on. just a bit clunky with our attacking shapes but that's to be expected with penriths linespeed and the amount of footy he's missed. definitely something there we can work with moving forward.

All I want from these kids is to see effort for the full game, he did that.

Considering he hasn’t played any footy for weeks, didn’t play much footy last year as well, 2nd nrl game, was lined up against the best squad in the comp and Kikau running right at him all game where he had zero time to do anything - He held up very well. Was impressed with him putting his body on the line all game & barking orders as well.

Looking forward to seeing him have some time against the Bulldogs.

He didnt do anything wrong. Cramps were killing him in the last 20-30 minutes, had a dig which is all you can ask given the amount of footy he has played of late.

If some of you guys on here understand what Madge is building with these young guys, you can see whats coming next year...

The game today showed all and sundry what this club is leading up to...

Good on Hartigan and Madge for copping the criticism and carrying on with the plan for the future of the great WTs....
