This situation reeks of The Pom or some other insider coming on and saying “We had him. He agreed to sign, but the Broncos were just not willing to meet our price for what they had to pay”. You know it’s coming.

Done deal

So why is he in pre season training with the Donkeys, seems a bit silly to me could do an ACL or anything. I would say still some hoops to jump through otherwise it makes absolutely no sense.

because if he wants to go to another club, despite what the broncos say, he still needs to be professional

he's not going to come out and say we are actively trying to move them to other clubs.....

I realise that but other clubs get things done ASAP or like we did with Roberts , it’s when they drag out , we tend to come last , let’s face it our record is not good .

I was refering to the fact the other guy said the deal was 100% done, its clearly not as he wouldnt be training with them. Unless you can explain how a deal is done 100% but still training with his previous club?

Has it dragged out? We’ve only been linked to him for a week or less. Contracts take time especially when you’re figuring out how much either club wants to pay

Joe posted a vid on Insta yesterday of him back at pre-season training with the Donkeys and captioned it "Good to be back with my brothers". Read into it as you will however it isn't screaming a bloke keen to move on. Be stoked to see him in Tigers colours though it seems it's far from a certainty.

He's not going to say "back at training, can't wait to get out of this place". Until he's signed elsewhere he's doing what you'd expect a member of the club would do.

I would’ve thought it best to say nothing if he actually was thinking of leaving.

His name literally came out of the blue only last week. Hardly think this is being dragged out? No coach would say their shopping a player around in the media.

Life's not all doom and gloom - lets see what happens first. I would say the Aloiai trade/release has to be finalised before we pick him up.

Pretty sure Roosters have done everything to get the Sualli contract done but the Rabbits and who is ever looking after the boys interests are making it difficult - even for the glamorous Roosters. When a player has options it is never done quickly until all those options are explored and considered. We were James Roberts only option.

Our record is terrible, for whatever reason.

The only ones we land are kids we offer more than their current clubs will offer / a starting spot their clubs can't offer... stefano, blore, Laurie etc.

And guys looking for that final, big, paycheck...too many to list.

We can't seem to land that mid 20s / in their prime / Origin level player.

It is actually pretty rare that current SOO plyers switch clubs, and its always for big $$$

Not suggesting it is certain, but I don't think we should read anything into him training with the Broncos.

I'd be hoping he was training with them still until everything is official, it shows he is professional and it means he won't turn up here as overweight and unfit.

It's an interesting thought but how often do clubs really secure the mid 20s origin player in his prime? Most 'in prime' players are already on long term high paying contracts.

The strategy of targeting a young on the cusp player with big potential is and always will be how to build a successful team. Baring a team like the Roosters I would say majority of clubs recruit this way. Once these players grow to their potential it gives the illusion of a well recruited superstar squad.

I don't believe this is our issue, we recruit very well here and have for a while now. Sure we missed out on Latrell and JAC (though that may still fall in our favour) but in reality we have recruited possibly the best juniors in the entire comp (Simpkons, Stefano, Blore, Laurie < all highly sort after and considered future stars) and beat many teams to them.

Our issue is and always been keeping them once they hit their peak years. We don't need multiple superstar signings to make a squad we need to add a few good quality players (like your Joe Of, Tamou) to compliment the juniors until they hit their peaks. If we can keep the young players during their prime in combination with those solid senior players recruited during the early years we will have a premiership squad.

Im not reading anything into it other than he clearly isnt a done deal, i would expect him to keep training with his current club like a professional does until he signs on the dotted line. Which he clearly hasnt done as of yet, so no more no less than that.

If he had posted the never pulling on the jersey again line, we might have had a chance

Its only been in the last two years that we have been in a position to offer a competitive contract for sought after players from other clubs. Can't think of many players at SOO level that we have offered contracts to in their prime other than Latrell and JAC - not including players who we have been linked to which means nothing unless a contract has been offered.

We have Blore signed for the next couple of years.
