You don’t like Joe and over rate Aloiai, I totally disagree with all you have said

Happy_tiger has the most ironic name on here. Seems eternally miserable.

And yet again Rusty Cage played the man ....not the subject

Grow up

Every quote and never a fact attached ....

Ok. Opinions not allowed then? I'm not in any inner circle within the tigers. Everything I write is an opinion and have I no problem with that. But surely you must realise that almost every post you make of late is one that's unhappy with something. Something genuinely positive won't hurt you. Really - you should try it some day.

When teh WT's make a positive move / signing I'll give them the kudos they deserve .....James Roberts has never finished a contract ......and Daine Laurie in a fringe player from another club who is only potential ..the one bloke we were told was basically signed and delivered pulled the pin ...same happened last year ....Our best player for the 3 years has left (Grant ,Matterson and Tedesco )no matter the circumstances are

Tamou is the only positive and that is questioned by many on the Forum

No wonder I struggle to find the positives ......

So pretty much unless they’re an origin player they’re not a good signing? Was luc a good signing to you?

If we aren't aiming to sign the biggest players in the game we should be giving it away ....Yeah Lucy has been a good signing

We are
James Tamou
Height195 cm (6 ft 5 in)
Weight115 kg (18 st 2 lb)
That make him one of the biggest

What's that I hear you say
"The best players"
Well we tried LM
Addo-Carr
And Harry Grant
We would have been in discussions with plenty of others
Its not through lack of trying
Let's hope the fact that the COE is under way, that it might help with future signings
Even if just a little

Now Happy
Is that really you posting or did your misses take over you forum account
Because you have changed
Cheer up mate
Things could be worse
Geo could move in next door to you

Well if we are continually trying to sign the best players and they continually say no ...we must address what the problem actually is .....I haven't seen any operational changes ....so yet again the club stick its head in the sand and ignores the obvious

What is the obvious?

Our club is seen by many as a bad joke across the board ...management and the way we are run ..roster ...multiple grounds

You are way too negative mate. This is just subjective assessments and it's meaningless. None of that stuff matters. You just gotta keep plugging away and see what happens.

I'd understand if there was consistent bad info coming out about the club but I don't see it. I mean do Saints still have supporters ? What about Melbourne ? What about Cronulla ? Those clubs have had some pretty poor moments in recent years.

The failure to sign a marquee player isn't bad info ...failure to make the finals since since 2011 isn't bad .....

The 2 most important things and we have failed miserably

But our bottom line operating profit is good .....and that isn't helping us play footy in September

I don't believe signing marquee players is an issue. I agree not making the finals is a problem but we haven't been consistently last. It's not so easy to develop a footy team that wins consistently.

I remember when Easts were one of the worst teams in the comp and laughed at all the time.

It can turn. It's harder to turn things around when you are handicapped by poor decisions of the past but that is the situation we are in.

And when it turns they'll get my full support ...until then I'll do my best to make them accountable ..which every fan of this club should be doing

If fans want to accept the crap the club as a whole has produced since 2011 go right ahead ..I won't

I think Tamou's signing was good and have defended it many times

As for the rest ...I hope I'm wrong (as i seem to say EVERY year ) pretty bad when you have to hope your wrong ..when you know deep down it will all end in more disappointment ..more anger ....more heartache for a club that we all love very much

Agree with your assessment.

We slightly older guys are more pragmatic.

In truth we have a massive PR issue and the brand (not the logo and colours) is tarnished.

We need 2 things.... Win a few more games (street Cred) and we need our David Fafita, Kalyn Ponga to turn the recruitment tide

I think the PR issue is about to turn.

There as been a noticeable change in how we interact with the media and how we deal with negative stories about the club. I think the Chairman needs to say a bit less and we will see a better relationship with the media and hopefully less death riding from certain sections.

I regards to recruitment, I believe we are starting to target the right players. I have said IP won't judge them on the players they attempt to sign as that is out of their control to a certain extent but I will judge them on the players they do sign. At this point I am willing to give them the benefit on the players we have signed and we will see how that plays out next year. I didn't expect Lucy or Doueihi to be the players they were this year so I believe the recruitment and coaching staff deserve the chance to see what they can get out of the players they signed for 21 and 22

I’m not sure what the fascination is about being able to “sign a marquee player”.

How many marquee players did the two grand finalists sign last year?

You want a top quality squad you have to either turn average players into top players or develop juniors that become top players.

Be good if we can now get Daine Laurie released for 2021

I get the feeling it won’t happen unfortunately

No real gain for Panthers letting him go early

No gain at all

Only gain out of letting him go would be to upgrade another player from their junior ranks (who they might view long term) into a development contract. Would love to see Laurie here next year, but I agree that 2022 is probably the more likely result.

My guess and it’s only a guess they are probably thinking if they let Burton go they can than upgrade Laurie for a year. Maybe if they do decide to keep Burton for next year they may release him.
Bottom line another year in the Riff system will not hurt him

I prefer what we have signed this offseason to the signing of just JAC.

Dude , you need a break from this stuff IMO. I totally see how you got to where you’re at , but it really seems like it’s doing some bad stuff to your mental health.
You’re right if you choose to , you can totally focus on how bad everything is , because there’s a lot of bad . But I think what everyone is trying to say , if you’re so negative about it , which you’re entitled to be , why persist in this thing that you clearly have what appears to be a mostly negative interaction with .

Let’s hope the big O lifts his game next year because he was dead set rubbish this year

he had Fifita and Haas getting most of the carries and his wife was also battling cancer so that's one way he's performance could have been effected.

Been carried by a very good pack ...we wll find out the hard way ...again

There pack was ordinary apart from Haas.
Offa on his day can outplay any forward. Big motor too..like the pick ip alot.

Look back since he has started ...Thaiday ...Gillett ...Fifita .....Jaydn Sua ...Essesse......Arrow ...ordinary ....lol

It's quality right. I don't know. I'm not sold on this signing. I hope it works out for us.

I’m not sure what the fascination is about being able to “sign a marquee player”.

How many marquee players did the two grand finalists sign last year?

You want a top quality squad you have to either turn average players into top players or develop juniors that become top players.

I prefer what we have signed this offseason to the signing of just JAC.

We still have 2 to get, so we won’t know what they are doing till they do it and we now have JA money to do it with?

Are we there yet?

Aloiai is a marquee player. Along with mowing and painting sheds, I am sure he could erect a marquee

There's more than one way to skin a cat. Chooks bought Teddy and Cronk and went back to back.

Every talks about the team but the club is the problem. Are we a development club, inner city, outer western ? The club doesnt know what it is or what it wants to be. A new gym won't change that.

Exactly ....we try and appease everyone almost to spite our own face ......Any other clubs trying to attempt to follow our NRL model ...

So is Easts, Souths & Bulldogs, that doesn’t mean much.

Pretty sure the club knows what it’s doing and what it wants, have you been seeing what is happening the last year or two?

Turning it around is slower than we all would like, but we are turning.

You don’t have to sign marquee players you can develop them, sign them as kids. Problem is we let ours go, Melbourne signed all theirs up before they were top players

Ive been waiting for a club run by Wests to sustain success for 35 years. And no, I'm not sure the club knows what it's doing.
