“But why do clubs never release players to the Tigers early?”

Elijah Taylor
Twal
Mbye
Lolohea
Joe O - literally the most recent signing

All released early from their contracts to join Tigers. Some folks have very short memories.

Blore also...

Can’t disclose the amount but is 6 figures.
Now the plan is to throw part of that at Panthers in a bid to release Laurie.
Laurie is the next priority so we can have a full off season with future spin.
Musgrove also offered new 2 year deal.

Thats a very smart move with the Laurie deal. If they pull that off i hope all the management bashers on here let up for a while.

Anyone shed any light to Denan Kemp/The Locker Room saying that there is much more to this story

Seems to be suggesting we have done wrong by Aloiai. Saying it's up to Josh to release his side if the story.

Pm if you can't say online.

That guy makes his earning by being on the side of the players. Even his marketing & branding for "Bloke in a Bar" is dominated with current players. If he sided with clubs, it could ruin his business. Would definitely carry a high level of bias.

IF they pull that off and we can also get our hands on a more aggressive back rower than Garner I will give them credit for their work improving the 21’ squad. If they don’t, I feel we will probably still finish next season in the mediocre category and the bashing will continue.

Bang on mate.

Josh won't say anything because he's got nothing to say.

The only thing he can say is "I'm upset because the club didn't offer me what they thought I was worth."

Sounds like a standard PR ploy: make an unspecified claim of wrongdoing against the other party and then act as if you're of too strong a moral character to release the details and say you "just want to move on" (with the possible addition of "but they know what they did" to make it seem more genuine).

I agree, as do most of these want to be journalist. Doesnt mean he mighnt be on to something however.

Aloiai's manager knows how to play the game.

Maybe he is claiming the club put up the photos on his Instagram account and made him say things he really didn't believe?::face_with_rolling_eyes: :disappointed: :anguished:

If it proves anything, it proves that Aloiai is a liar. He either lied 6 months ago when he publicly came out with effusive praise of Madge and the club, or he is lying now about how rubbish the club is. Either way, the club has come out of it professionally and in a stronger position.

Occams Razor.......Aloiai was offered insane money from Manly and either he or his manager dealt with it in a childish immature manner.

He does but if you hear any player eventually talk about where there was an issue where they were made out to be a bad guy by a club, particularly a player who previously seemed a good club man, it seems that the player almost always has a reason to feel hard done by. Whilst I don't know what happened with Aloiai I'm sure he had a reason, other than more money, to be upset.

Players dont announce their grievances publicly because it hurts future negotiations if they do.

I think Benji did?

Just watched the WT's replay on Fox v Brisbane from 2020 at LO

Very apt moment Aloiai makes a break ....Jo O drags him down ......

I have a hunch that there isn’t a particular incident that occurred but long term signing of Stefano and followed by the short term acquisition of Tamou may have forced the issue.
It may not have been the figure as much as the role that Josh had been offered in his new contract.
If you add the sums. You have Tamou signed on for 2 years on $350 and Stefano on a similar amount for 3 + years.
Both players are out and out front rowers. Tamou will be a starting front rower, Stefano could be, but most likely will transition to.

Where does that leave Aloiai? On position availability alone.

Then if you factor in a contract upgrade of say 50-100k, that puts Aloiai on 400-450k and besides Packer would be paid as the premium front rower.

We all know his a great bench prop. Average starting prop and a terrible lock. (Doesn’t have the stamina / agility)

What does the coach do?

My thoughts are this is what led to the recent events.

ok then, Dont usually...

Also often if there is wrong doing that clubs believe can damage their brand (even if it hasn't breached a contract) than releases are typically only granted on the condition a non-disclosure is signed.

Like I said I havent heard anything specific to Aloiai. Maybe he is just after more money. It would even make sense given (I believe but haven't fact checked) he has the same manager as Fonua-Blake that this has been set up as a cash grab from some time ago. But it is equally plausible that he has been wronged in some way by the club and has genuine reason for not giving details.

I was just thinking the manager (who manages JA and the Manly bloke who just left), seen away to make a wad of cash for himself, didn’t really care about the players and certainly not the clubs?

Could be. I just don’t see something sinister that occurred just a bit of tantrum throwing.
