Just one thing.

I still dont understand how us hiring Joe Ofangue allows us to release Aloiai to Manly?

People say its a player swap. So we let Aloiai goto Manly and we get a player from Brisbane.
Its like having one kid steal a good card off you then another kid gives you a better card...
How is that a swap?

It's not

Aloiai was released to Manly for an undisclosed fee

Ofahegaue was signed by Wests Tigers...

Simple really

And Wests Tigers received some $$$ contribution towards Ofahegaue's salary for the next 2 years, and Wests Tigers also received separate $$$ compensation from Manly for allowing Aloiai to leave early.

Good business.

Occam's razor..the simplest explanation is often the correct one..

or you could read the telecrap..

I predict JO to be the most influencial signing so far,.Every top side has at least one bruising forward and the Tigers never did.AJ was good but but not hard,we have some quality young forwards who i think can step - up this year.We could end up with a great pack especially with our new high performance staff,

We’ve given up Aloiai and Sam Mac for Tamou and Joe Offa. That is a big win imo.

And Jennings for Roberts

We havent heard much from our forum brother Russ...he is still getting over his hangover from celebrating the news that Jimmy the jet will replace Jennings ...he also had to go to the chiropractor after doing a record amount of cartwheels since the news broke...   ..

Thats the bit I haven't heard.

As signing Ofahegaue seems totally independant to Aloiai leaving us.

Yet this Compensation. Its just Money. Its not Cap money, i.e. Manly looses $100,000 from their cap we Gain $100,000.

Brisbane must have some really good Juniors to be releasing Lodge and Ofahegaue. They lost Fifita, so I thought they would be down on stocks.

They’ve got Flegler, Carrigan, Haas, Riki, Bullemor, Kennedy and TPJ. Most of them on big money so majority of their cap was tied up in their forwards they needed to release one or two guys.

Win win for us and broncos, we get Joffa on a reduced deal and they get majority of his salary gone.

The Lodge news of him moving to the Warriors, is apparently fake/false news .. and confirmed by the Warriors management today ..?? but then again when a club comes out and denies something usually means the completed opposite .. lol

I'm in a pretty negative mood about the direction of our club at the moment but I am excited about this Signing. At his best he is quality.

Thought it was rubbish as soon as i heard it. Big bodies like Lidge struggle with the new rules. No one will pay him more than he is already on. Warriors already have acouple of good props.

Maaaan...Its getting exciting again!
Looking forward to seeing the new recruits, and hopefully Twal and Musgrove at 100% again. Oh yeah, and Mbop was always a solid player who seems like he lost his mojo somewhere along the way...hope he gets it back, doesn't need to be a game-breaker (would be nice, of course) but just not horrible or missing like he was this year. But Brooksy better be a game-breaker.
Thank you WT for giving us a little hope for the future.
P.S. I hope the club does what's needed to keep Nof... After the Teddy fiasco, my heart couldn't take it.

That’s the thing, Mbye is actually a game breaker. He was just horribly utilised at centre last year. If Madge learnt one thing last season I pray that he’ll never play him there again.

I actually think he’s a very dangerous fullback. I also think positionally he’s very good (much better than Doueihi). Just make him catch 50,000 bombs over pre season.

Mbye could be a good fullback if he could catch bombs. That's it. He has just about every other aspect of play figured out. His skills of organisation of defence is possibly the most important attribute he has. Almost worth having him there just for that.

Not sure players actually read - though it appears their friends do. So on that note, welcome to the club Joe and hope we can benefit your career as much as we hope you can our club.
All the best Josh, always found your effort and on-field attitude a pleasure to watch. Thanks.

Mbye was found out at fullback in 2019 by Cronk's high kicking. From there Mbye never really had a chance to settle into a regular fullback spot. I still feel quite confident that he can handle fullback very well.

I still like him as a Fullback, I would have him spending a lot of time under the high ball during the off season.

Manly v Tigers will be juicy. I hope we break him

Send out packer I suppose!

If he could complete the trio all in one season (Matterson, Aloiai and Moses) I may, just may justify clearys decision of signing him

....kidding

“But why do clubs never release players to the Tigers early?”

Elijah Taylor
Twal
Mbye
Lolohea
Joe O - literally the most recent signing

All released early from their contracts to join Tigers. Some folks have very short memories.
