I genuinely don't understand why people think this. The Tigers said they weren't going to just release Aloiai without a replacement. Such a replacement became available, and they were able to use the cash they were going to spend on Aloiai to secure him.

Pick an option:
A) Stick Aloiai in reserves and don't replace him on the first grade roster, to make a point that we won't be pushed around.
B) Stick Aloiai in reserves and sign another prop, using money that could have been used to strengthen the squad elsewhere.
C) Decline to release Aloiai until a suitable replacement can be found, find one, sign him and then release Aloiai to free up cap space for said signing - thus making a like-for-like swap.

You're totally welcome to believe Ofahengaue isn't a good replacement for Aloiai. You might be right. But if the club thinks he is, using Aloiai's money to get him is clearly the best outcome for the 2021 roster.

Joe O is not a replacement for Aloiai. There was plenty of room and funds for both. I don't watch Broncos except for when we play them, so I don't know much about our new player. I'm hoping for good things though.

Gaining Joe and losing Josh are two unrelated events.

The problem here is we said we would not release Josh A unless we received a financial advantage. That was a very public statement. And now WT have said we received a payment for Josh A (good to hear) but we're not disclosing how much, WT just wants us to trust them. Maybe it was a high enough amount, and really if the figure was publicised, only WT are in a position to adequately judge whether the figure meets their criteria or not for it being a 'good enough' amount.

It is just very unfortunate that there was no deterrent for players stitching us up again. And a lot of us said this last time with Matterson. So who's next? Nofa? Twal? Mikaele? Talau? Liddle? I'm guessing it's more than one next time. Wonder how that will go down.

Seriously all the *****"WAH WAH WAH we want to know how much"***** rubbish so self centred and ridiculous. There are MANY commercial reasons not to disclose even not considering the obvious contractual ones. Maybe Manly dont want it disclosed or as POM alluded to earlier, if we are using that money as an enticement for Penrith to let Laurie go early, why the hell would you let them know how much we got? Would totally destroy any negotiations.

I am pretty fed up with how people read something and interpret it how they want. I didn't say I want to know how much, I never did. I even said, only WT could judge on whatever the amount was as to it's worth.

I have said on here repeatedly that this all about making a stand to prevent players trying it on us in the future. We even had some players for crying out loud apparently backing Josh A's comments on social media, that's certainly not a good sign for our future.

I'll be clear, I don't care how much we received in compensation, I don't want to know. It was all about trying to discourage players from trying us again in the future, and in that we failed. Maybe we'll do better next time, because I guarantee you there'll be a next time now.

Not if we get the rules changed which is the important thing in all this.

But you will never discourage players looking for more money, they have managers whose job is to constantly look at this, they only have a small window to earn these big $’s, I said earlier a contracted player can only leave if it suits the club.

Tbh, I was happy Lee showed some passion and said what he said, because most of us was thinking similar

Undisclosed 6 figure amount = $100, 000.00 anyone else thinking the same?

Well that has to be the minimum

would it be half the cost of his contract?

If tigers release their financial conditions then it sets the precedent for other clubs and players to think that it is where we set our bar....

Can’t disclose the amount but is 6 figures.
Now the plan is to throw part of that at Panthers in a bid to release Laurie.
Laurie is the next priority so we can have a full off season with future spin.
Musgrove also offered new 2 year deal.

Now that's some smart decision making! Nobody saw that twist.

I did

Whatever people think I like our recruitment the last two years. We are not paying overs, we are recruiting big solid forwards with a lot of upside and juniors are promising. If only we can get a fullback and hope to god that Brooks can aim up for a change.

I reckon brooks will fire up without Benji tbh, and this is coming from one of the biggest Benji fans ever

I KNOW Brooks will be the same plodding boring halfback we have seen year after year. I promise you of that.

I saw a post on some social media platform that put Wests Tigers fans as the biggest whingers in the comp. I go for us and i actually agree. We get rid of potential cancer for at least 100k. for all we know its 350k. We get a yoiung forward who has in the past played for qld so is a rep player. and our management still gets slammed. Its a crazy old world. Heaven forbid giving some props to a handcuffed management on their ability to deal with these rubbish situations.

also because nobody else in the league thinks they're whingers either.....it's always someone else

I think Ofahengaue is an upgrade over Aloiai. Someone who can play anywhere in the forwards, an Origin player, an international rep, plus he's a lot fitter than JA. A couple of times last year, JA got caught out being tired in defence & the opposition ran right around him.

While Joe O had a poor season last year - it was really only poor under Seibold.

When Gentle took over for the last 5 games his stats and performance went up markedly. He only played 3 extra minutes a game on average but went from averging 70 meters under Seibold to 131 under Gentle , his tackles went up from 24 to 30 while his mistackle ave went down from 10% to 6% of tackles and he made 3 offloads in 5 games after making only 1 in the 20 games under Seibold.

That really says his problem was the crap coach which means we should get the better version
