Joe Picker

Looking at that highlights video, he just seems to be in the right place at the right time. Looks to run a decent line too, similar to Ellis as someone else stated. He's not the type of player we would usually target, which is why I think he'd be a good signing.

Agree with you bon. The guy can't get a regular gig in a notoriously underperforming side and people want him here?

He's not a half, a hard running backrower or a prop so why would we want him?

As is the reason for this Forum, everyone has a right to there opinion, however in this case I tend to fall on the side of Picker being a good buy. He is physically imposing enough ( official stats are 1.90 m (6 ft 2 1⁄2 in) 100 kg (15 st 13 lb)) a raw boned country lad and an absolute workhorse - he constantly vied with Fensom for total tackjes made in a year. He played 21 games in the NRL last year before a infection took him out. He has only just in the last few months been available for selection. And it is only one Josh Papalii who is holding him out of firsts

In my humble opinion we need another work horse like a Dallas Johnson or Shaun Fenson - Picker could be that guy.

All we need to do now is to go after Russell Packer and we'll have a picker and a packer in the team! Yeah I know…very lame :unamused:

To go with the several peckers already here?

Or the two or three that are here for a picnic?

He is a bench player at best - so why bother?

Umm because you need a squad not just a top 13 and I would take Picker over quite few of our current "bench" players

the trouble is,all we seem to recruit is people who should wear 18,19,20,21,22,23

the good news is we just cut a bunch of them.

Picker, Paterson and Lulia all GS Sports Management guys according to that YouTube video playlist . Pity they don't have any more high profile guys cuz it looks like we have a good relationship with them.

I'd be happy for Picker to come to WT. He's a good little player.

Put it this way I would have Joe Picker over BMM anyday of the week , the guy is a workhorse and can bust the line where as BMM is just plain lazy for his size a bit like George Rose and BMM has been playing this year , so my point is Picker would be in our top 17 in my Opinion.

Those kinds of player are annoying… you don't want to let go of them in case the flourish...but waiting for them to hit their straps is painful.

To be fair, BMM has looked pretty good this season in a limited role.

Yeah I agree.Potter has done well giving him extra minutes.I think he needs a year of this before he becomes more mobile to shed some kilos and to get into a frame that doesnt make him a lazy defensive liability.

If I were recruiting a team I would favour recruiting quality first-graders, or those who I felt had the potential to become quality first-graders.

Even with our current injury problems, our bench last week consisted of: Ava Seumanfaguai; Jack Buchanan; Ben MM; and Curtis Sironen.

On potential alone, I would take any of them before Picker.

Why deliberately recruit players who will never be better than bench players?

Everyone entitled to their opinion and whilst I like all of the players you mentioned, none average 40 plus tackles a game. He is a Dallas Johnson type and I think would be a good addition but hey unlikely and I am not Coach Potter!

he is a toiler, surely we have someone in our system that can do what he offers.
Maybe they are trying to get in with the family, there seems to be a million of them, I think the generation above has about 5 brothers who were all very good country footballers and all their kids are starting to come through and apparently they are all pretty good
