Are you eluding to the fact the Lui's defence was compensating for Ayshfords deficiencies? What a load of garbage! Blake showed much better signs last week coming off the bench and I expect him to step up now that he has been given another oppotunity to start.

in my opinion he is a poor defender & I'm not just talking about this year,I thought they were our 2 worst defenders last year & was surprised sheens had them defending next to each other.i was just trying to make the point that now that lui's gone,more people would notice his defense is his achilles heel

No worries - I disagree though. I will pay some more attention to his defence tomorrow night and see how he goes. I never thought it was his achiles heel though!

I heard this also, and that he was in hospital last week. Sorted now, named for BRET this week.

I don't get how anybody rates Simona. He did nothing to impress me in first grade. That flick pass he threw was unnecessary AND forward and other than that all he did was take out Chris Houston and get a penalty for it.

Meaney was good last week. Showed more in that game than Simona did in his games. Meaney deserves the spot and he offers a lot more than Simona. He can play fullback, wing, centre and hooker while Simona is a centre that could play wing at a stretch. Meaney will be there and deservedly so.

Of course, we could just put an extra forward on the bench. Say … Junior Moors? I'm sure he could play wing as well as Matt Utai anyway.

Simona might not be a utility,but he is damn sure a better footballer then meaney.Simona isnt a superstar,but is a natural footballer with a great footybrain and skills.

Nothing against meaney,But if its a wing or centre spot on the line,they dont compete.If tim had seans experince at fullback id pick him there two.

Shame about reddy,but at fullstrength i want ashford in the team,and hopefully the act of him being dropped is all that was needed to bring him to some form.

not sure,but I just went to check the Farrah to parra post & my post disappeared from there as well.I played for the same junior club as Blake & watched him come up through the grades & think his defense is one thing he needs to fix up so he will be in the representative mix,in attack last year he was one of our better players.

Lol you obviously have a personal relationship with Tim. Fair enough.

Mr. Meaney is a very underrated player though. He's never been given a fair crack in first grade and most write him off immediately. He would have been a better option than Wade McKinnon that's for sure. Meaney is also safer under the high ball, more experienced and (and this is the most important) Sheens rates him higher so there. :smiling_imp:

How anyone can describe meaner as a better player then McKinnon is just plain ridiculous - as for Simona I was very impressed last year but he isn't really a utility -I think meaner will and deserves to get the utility spot at this stage but I would love too see a young bloke get a run not sure who given the injuries in the 20s and Kai returning to Brisbane unfortunately

Meaney can also play five/eighth, front row second row and lock oh and left right out. iF this is our depth then we are in a lot of trouble.. :blush: :blush:

When Utai is back he will take the 14 so we won't have to put up with meaney for much longer. And I think with Utai there he will be used as an extra backrower and backs injury cover. Getting maybe 25 mins a game which I think will suit us nicely
