This is what kills me mate. He is supposed to be leading our youngsters, yet comes up with the dumbest plays out of everyone every single week. I don't question his effort. He tries. But his discipline is an utter disgrace and we can't carry him. The example he sets youngsters disgraceful. If Benji allows this it sets a really bad example for the kids we are trying to bring through.

I can't stress enough how bad a negative effect this guy has had on our club. As far as 2024 goes, John Bateman has been the biggest handbrake on any progress we were hoping to make.

He and Klemmer are killing us. Thanks Sheens you imbecile.

Can I ask what makes you a fan? Before you answer I'll give you effort, I do believe he tries. But outside of that, what makes you like him?

Rubbish , bloke tackled his arse of today yes he put a ball down , but go back and see who was urging the team on when sezer got marched, that’s not a bloke who is useless

I've said many times he tries. I'll never argue that he doesn't try. But if you can't see how much pressure he puts on us every week with his penalties and dropped balls then I can't help you

Lots of players try - but aren’t effective…
He’s one of them.
He’d be in the top paid back rowers in the game and wouldn’t be in the top 20 (generously)
Keeps busy - but is ineffective with the ball and makes too many dumb mistakes
 
Standard Bateman plays:

1. Stupid penalty conceded late in the set...tick
2. Critical handling error when we have momentum...tick
3. Critical error from overplaying...tick
4. Stalling a set by feigning injury on a legal tackle...tick
5. Penalty for acting tough and going on with a stupid second effort in a tackle... incomplete.

Almost achieved all his match assignments. Our most consistent player without a doubt.

Interesting comments.
If we want to move him on we’ll have to pay some substantial freight.
I reckon he’d shine off the bench at one of the top 4-6 sides.
I think he is well in our plans at the moment otherwise we wouldn’t play him like the others in our squad that aren’t getting a look in in first grade.
If he does move on though, could Galvin be a Smokey to move in one position and play alongside Latu.
Could we do any worse replacing what Bateman offers with what Galvin offers?

I’m over it. Benji must set an example of them.
The season is over. We are playing kids that aren’t ready anyway so put someone else in and see what they’re made of.

Punt the experienced poor performers to reggies and make a statement. Might as well go all in now.

Rubbish tonight . Give him a season early mark, first class, and one way
 
I’m a Bateman fan but he is just not up to it now , still does heaps in defence but just does a lot wrong , I. Not sure how we go about it , but if we need him to go play him in reserves from now on , he will get pissed and leave , no cost to us , he will head home or even offer him $ 100 k to move on , but make no mistake we need to replace him with quality not kids

Klemmer and Bateman must be dropped if we are to move forward with the Cubs. Bad plays and examples for the kids. Enough is enough how many chances do they get
