The ABC's televised Rugby Union match this Saturday is Eastwood v Easts. John Grant is #14 for Eastwood. The game starts at 3:00 pm on Channel 2\. It will be a good chance to see our new boy in action. He's big and he's fast, and I hope I haven't Jonah'd him!

eastwood are great to watch in general, hopefully he gets planty of ball!

I reckon after tomorrow a few of the doubters might change there mind, he is seriously good

i think debbie burned her bridges a long time ago.

she was a little too outspoken and hit the glass ceiling.

wazza went back to queensland,i thought.

HOORAY!!! Have endured an hour of this excruciating game to finally see Grant score a try. Seems to have a bit of pace. It'll be interesting to see how he adapts to the NRL. Apart from the difference between Union and League, judging from the game I'm watching, the standard of Shute Shield is a world away from the NRL.

Great hands. Did not drop a ball. Scored a good try, positions himself well and seems to be able to tackle.

He is also a big bloke, with tons of speed. Looks promising.

How bad was that game to watch.
What a poor standard of entertainment Shute Shield is,the ABC must be hard up for some thing to televise.I was happy with Grants imput

I love to watch shute shield, horses for courses I guess. Wasn't the most attractive game on sat i guess, but John Grant is a serioulsy good football.

I watched the 2nd half. His ability to determine when to tackle or drop away and allow his team mates to do the work close to his try line were outstanding. He did not panic or get a head rush, he remained very calm when the pressure was applied in defense. He monstered in defense, he is huge. He knows how fast he is and so do the opposition - he toyed with them at times. He seemed to be very confident without being arrogant. I can't wait to see him have a run. I think he will get a shock at how much work he will have to do playing RL.

Yeah, I thought that he went well enough. He's certainly quick and is seriously tall. That he took 2 very high kicks with no trouble at all augurs well for his League career. He didn't have to do much in defence, but what he did was good. I'm looking forward to his future with the Tigers.
As for the game: I thought that Easts half-back looked good and that Eastwood had a good hooker and a promising centre. As for the rest of it, as Jack Gibson once said: "Rugby Union is a good game for fat forwards".

The fullback for Eastwood - Batger - seems a very handy player. At 27 a bit old to make the transition but would have minded a few years ago.

Yes, that's true. Batger's a good footballer. I think that he had a stint with the Brumbies but never kicked on for some reason. Maybe too cold in Canberra?
