John Grant - Would you sign him?

Before you make your mind up to say you would "pass" on signing this player, have a look at this:-

I have heard some ex-union players lamenting the failure of Rugby Union to keep this player, when the current crop of top wingers is taken into account.

He is very promising.

Thanks for that MM…he is a very impressive athlete. He seems to also possess ball skills, a good strong step and has a footballers brain with regards to his positioning of himself and those around him.

On top of that he is huge and fast.

...so why didnt he make 1 of the 4 S14 franchises? I think we can turn him into an absolute weapon.

He reminds me of Pat Richards in so many ways. Tall, fast and strong. I've watched a few of his games since we signed him and I think he could be very successful with the Tigers. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot at fullback next year.

Thats an impressive Highlights reel and he only just came 2nd in the Gatorade race.

Im liking what I see, especially those chip and chases.

2nd in the Gatorade bolt only to another another union boy. Beat Wayne and Inglis and was only called up the day before to replace someone who was injured. Had no sprint training to prepare..

I think he might even be able to get afew more yards of pace in him yet.

He looks quick that for sure, and his height will be great. It's hard to judge just how effective his step is as there appeared to be some very second rate defense in that video. Hopefuly he will get some tips on how to dive in low at the try line. On a few of his trys he stayed up very high near the line. In the NRL the way the top team slide so well in defense I think he would get put into touch. In saying that I think he looks a great prospect. Perhaps a great option for fullback. I did notice in the Sydney v Country clip of the video he was wearing the number 15 so he has obviously played a bit of fullback in union. Also his pace and size on kick returns would be great.

Yeah he has some moments in the video but scoring tries V Zimbabwe ,Canada etc in 7 doesn't really fill me with enthusiasm
I hope he makes it don't get me wrong but it will take time and a lot of hard work on his behalf

Is there another John Grant running around somewhere that i'm not aware of?
As Ink said, we've already signed him, whats the point of asking if we should when we already have? :crazy

Looks to have good hands and solid under the high ball on top of genuine pace, could be exciting!

I'm a huge Grant fan. He's lightning fast, 195cm tall and 101kg. He is a unit.
Saw him play in the shute shield final and he looks impressive. In regards to the conversion from league to union playing league will be simpler than union. Off a kick return all he has to do is pin his ears back and charge at the line instead of weighing up kicking, passing or running.
He's excellent under the highball and has no problem finding the stripe.
He will be a HUGE assett for the side and unlike Moltzen for the majority of the year will attack the ball.
