OFFICIAL Jordan Miller #289

I personally think it just comes down to precedent. There definitely is more to it but it's whether the reason for termination is a common practice amongst NRL clubs.

I don't think attitude, performance, fitness etc factors into all that.

I've only ever seen contracts terminated for discretions away from football altogether. DUIs, drug use, social media misconduct etc.
We'll find out soon enough

Noffa?

I find it interesting that people think he couldn't get sacked for fitness? He is paid to be a professional footballer and would have KPI metrics targets that would need to be regularly hit. I don't think that in isolation would get you sacked but it would form part of a bigger picture in his attitude.

I think Benji and Richo are good judges of character and they don't want Bateman and Miller there. We don't know what's happened with Miller, but we can assume that his attitude isn't good enough, and being a big lad he probably needs to be even more disciplined than someone that has more athletic body type. Better to cut losses now. I also think that prospects like the Johanssen brothers are much better options.

In relation to Bateman, leaving Canberra was a bad look and his discipline was poor for us when we needed a leader who needed to be calm in adversity.

He then has a blow up with Benji because he knows better, but he's not the coach. It doesn't say alot about his character/resilience. Yes, he gets through the work but we need more than that from a senior player. He needs to get on board and help deliver the message, like Api has and Luai will. Richo and Benji want him gone and Bateman wants to stay because no one else will pay him what he's on at the Tigers.

IMO the above examples are just management clearing decks of bad eggs, nothing more.

We'll find out what they want us to know... Wether that's the truth or not..... 🤔
The truth is never going to come out.

It will be a sealed settlement if it even gets there.

There was a massive fuss about Topine? from Bulldogs last year. Much bigger than this Miller thing. Any updates on that or just settled out of courts?

Pretty sure I read somewhere he lost the case against the Bulldogs. Topines case would have set a pretty dangerous precedent.

I'm all for standards and good culture but if we're going to be a quote unqoute development club then sacking young players for being late twice seems an overreaction. Somewhere like Melbourne would have an old head take him aside and explain expectations. I think you've got to have a different approach from someone like Noffa or Bateman to a guy who's barely out of junior reps.

it seems likely that they want him gone for some other reason and being “late for training” is just the means they are using to get rid of him …

At least if Bateman is back … you can rest assured he will be 10 mins early to training every day

Possibly but that’s all we’ve got to go on. All we’ve been told is he was late twice and he reckons one time wasn’t his fault. On the surface it seems an overreaction especially given how keen he seems to be to stay.

At the end of the day we have no idea how many times he’s been pulled aside…or not pulled aside. Or if this is just an excuse. (Or if his manager or lawyer is just being difficult via the media and the tigers have their hands tied with what they can say)

It sucks when it is a young guy with huge potential.

We don't really know if that was the reason thought, do we?
