Good lord, sounds like the same circus as LM.

Very much. I wonder if the name of those claiming to represent him rhymes with Hat Nose.

You'd be correct.

If so, we should steer clear. He obviously has an agenda and it is not to get the best deal for his clients.

- Matto was on double of JAC.

I’m not so sure about that? I think their contracts at the time of dummy spitting are/were about the same?

Ah you may be right, his new deal worth $500K or so.

Makes them even more comparable.

Please don't compare JAC and Matterson. JAC appears to be a very good bloke and highly regarded in the NRL. I understand he has a family issue and we can all empathise with him. He has also been at our club and did well. If he does come back I cannot wait. As for Matterson, the Club handled his exit as well as it could and picked up quite a few exciting players from the Eels.

Actually they are very much comparable. None of us are privy to the personal info on any player, so on paper, you have two players that want out of deal mid-term, definitely money is a factor, after their current clubs help establish them as Origin-level performers.

Whatever the background, JAC signed with Storm without further considering ongoing Tigers discussions of the time; he could have taken his time and further negotiated with Tigers, but he didn't. He then made plenty of noise about being happy down at the Storm and... and now he isn't.

Storm didn't break his arm, everyone is quite aware how far apart Melbourne and Sydney are. Maybe he misjudged the burden on his family, which is fine, it happens.

But I'd feel aggrieved if I was a Storm fan, or if JAC was with us and this was playing out the same way.

Like I said, the only real difference is the ethics and morals of the player, whether or not they honour their deal if a compromise cannot be found, or whether they kick stones.

And if JAC was true-blue honorable man he'd switch clubs for the same remaining value as his Storm contract??? Or bet your bottom dollar he gets a payrise for his troubles.

Are we allowed to approach JAC and offer him a deal for 2021 and forget about 2020 just so we can secure him first and worry about an early release from there?

Judging by the money he is on i think we go in at 600k for 3 years so he has motivation to try and get a early release.

That alone would assist us in other recruitment areas and marketing.

Great idea! Write it down, take it to Concord and staple it to the head Of our recruitment manager. Maybe then the message will get through

Yes we can and should be doing this

JAC wouldn’t be signing with Bulldogs , can just add that little tidbit to the ongoing saga

It’s a postcode/family thing but Melbourne almost about to give in to a financial deal. Could be ideal keeping Jenko, Momirovski and having them play second fiddle to Abbey, Nof, Mbye, Talau and Josh with C.T as utility and Garner’s younger brother proving impressive already!

Doesn't his contract have two more seasons?

Anyone know if a transfer fee counts on the cap?

Now that’s a great question ... given the NRL’s high-level incompetence I’ll guess yes

Not as though we will be spending the $1.7m free anyway at this rate so might as well compo and bring forward player payments into this season.

That's why I am not sure.. Storm has advised they would be willing to release early after this coming season but does that mean we can sign him. That way other clubs cannot pop up and offer a player the storm want as they will push him that way.

Pretty sure it does mate. Same as souths if they pay the Roosters the fee they want.

But we have the cap space to absorb it if necessary and we know for certain that no million dollar players will be joining us

Off contract until the end of of 2021....

We can’t approach him and sign him until November 1st next year and that’s for the 2022 season without Melbourne’s permission

The Storm suggested they would release him for the 2021 season - however I’m expecting that if we gave good enough compensation we could get him for the 2020 season

Hopefully a financial agreement is good enough as sending a quality player to Melbourne would only set us back further in depth

We have a quality half who may like to live in Melbourne? Grub? But That only leaves us with 4 hookers?

No one is taking Josh Reynolds with a domestic violence charge hanging over his head and a potentially tons of bad press court case ahead. Clubs just won't go near a player like that until it is all over / cleared.
