Josh Reynolds needs playing time before Wests Tigers return, says Robbie Farah

In Maguire we trust. There was always going to be a tussle between Reynolds and Marshall. Maguire's reasoning is fair and to me at least is pretty obvious and valid. He will know the time to switch them and no doubt be watching the ISP team and speaking with the coach. The pressure is on Marshall too.

A vote of no confidence in either in as much as not fitting team requirements will be if/when Gamble gets a run. I don't think it's fair to give him the mark of cain after his only NRL appearance last year. If he is performing well in ISP there is no reason that in the latter half of season he can't get a run. Marshall's legs will have given out by then probably. And I'll keep saying it- don't be surprised if Farah and or Marshall retire before 30 June to give WT a chance for a couple of opportunity signings- especially if they're feeling their age.

I don't think they can come off the salary cap unless it is a medically induced retirement and can be proven (Like Watmong or Stuart )

Happy to be hear otherwise though

Im darned if I can understand this supposed simple salary cap rules. They have until 30 June to sign players and one would also presume a player can choose to retire at any stage- especially respected and ageing players. If the rules constrain a club in replacing a senior player that chooses to retire during a season due to wear and tear n the old body it needs looking at. Surely then by its nature that would inhibit clubs continuing to use older players on the downhill ride. Not good and I would assume not what the NRL would want in look.

Hey Pateiot, just so it’s out there beforehand - at some stage on Saturday, benji will probably kick on the third tackle. Just warning you in advance😀

Thanks, will it be before or after the no look pass that screws up the nice back line play we had been working on?

Agree with what your saying Happy, but all of those players also had one other thing. A pack that could hold there own and often dominated the opposition - granted the game was significantly different in their era.

Josh when playing well was behind a big dogs pack. Brooks had a stand out year last year only because in games our pack was holding their own, not dominating but holding their own.

They can replace them …but you don't lose their value off your cap

Seeing we are -$300 + k I can't see us replacing a retired player

Yeah no arguments from me

But a forward pack can't win without halves and vice versa

My point is the truly successful sides over the years have the right mix in the halves

Even in our success in 2005 Prince and Marshall had the right mix especially when you had Hodgson at the back

And that's a big issue at many sides ..how many have halves that have great field vision

Roosters , Penrith , Warriors , Souths (to a degree ), Melbourne have a hooker ,

There's a million ways this can play out. Just hoping the 17 that run out have a good hit out and take the 2 comp points on offer.

We will , no worries there CB

I'm keenest to see how our forwards stand up a pretty darn good Manly pack

My opinion , that is one of the top 4 packs in the comp

Their backline less DCE and Turbo would be an embarrassment to many Qld Cup sides

That is not completely correct, if they retire you stop paying them so the unpaid value ofntheir contract becomes available, which could tjen be used to sign a replacement.

Any chance Reynolds didnt play on the weekend because the club is in the middle of negotiations to release him back to the Dogs.

It wouldn't surprise me if it were with the dogs or the ESL. Something doesn't sound right with the vibe around Reynolds and Madge. I'm only speculating like most on the forum, but I think Madge has and is implementing an exit strategy for Reynolds.

Yes Josh is taking up too much of the cap to be a maybe. He has played very little consistent footy in two years and is pushing 30\. Its just not viable in its current state, with three years to run on his contract, unless he strikes some instant grand form, we cant have that much money tied up in an ISP player. Wouldnt surprise me at all if there will be movement soon if he cant beat Benji for the spot.

Unless he succeeds at the WT's we are going to lose big time and adding it to the cap hurt thanks to Greenburg it will be like losing a player of Reynolds value
