Josh Reynolds - over hyped and over paid

I honestly think this will only do Josh a favour. No player in WTs should be thinking they are a walk up start anymore, regardless of how much they earn. Every player needs to bring their A game each week at training, on game day and in the community. I have no doubt Josh achieves at least 2 of those listed.

I think it's time to replace benji. After all Josh has completed his first full game in a year and we have we have won our first 2 games with Marshall in the team for fg.
Seriously the only reason people want to change is because they don't rate/like one player but Josh needs a few more full games in reserves if anything. One good ISP game means a guaranteed call up to fg? It would be like musical chairs all year.
We must be the only club where we have two legends who people don't like or want. Really does any other teams supporters put the boot into people like Marshall or Farah? You know people who embody the wts.

I think in the end the big difference is that Maguire will be proactive in the move between Benji and Grub

Not proactive which might dint our confidence

Benji has always been rocks and diamonds. He will have a shocker soon and Reynolds will get called up.
Benji hasn't been that great, just because we're winning is why he is safe.

Could argue best player on the planet during 2010-2011\. But if you are right, how crap are we as a club a life member who really is just a rocks player.
Ps I'm not saying this as a kiwi but am amazed by how many people put the boot into the two players who had to play out of their skin for us to be above average.

I'm just saying, he has his moments. Brilliance and then garbage. All his career he has been that way.
It will take a loss with a poor showing from Benji to get Reynolds into the first grade squad.

That won't be too far off if our history is anything to go by. I desperately want our form to continue, but it's unlikely - particularly against the lower placed teams. It's always been our achilles heal.

No I don't think so, even the Sharks supporters still like Gallen! 😂

He's such a key part of the team right now. His inclusion has turned things around dramatically. Kicking close to the line has been absolute first class and his energy has been immense as it has been from most out there I suppose. He's fast turning into someone that we really can't do without.

Totally agree with everything you have said.
Reynolds brings so much experience and ability to the team but I think what I love most about him is the passion he has for the team and the game. When we signed him I wasn’t sure that he would embrace the club the way he had the bulldogs, I have no doubt now that he is a Wests Tiger through & through. I love OUR Grub.

Only the bed weters were engaged in this garbage, Reynolds was exactly what was needed unfortunately injury delayed his presence.

Reynolds ball passing and kicking far superior than Marshalls. He has played consistently in both games to date. His aura on the field is having a big impact on the rest of the team, bringing confidence and high enthusiasm across the park.

Yeah yeah lets not get too carried away, he's been great for us in the games he's played, his kicking especially.
But he's done nothing yet, he'll admit that.
I'll be happy if he just gets through a string of games unscathed at this point.

I'm liking the way Madge has manage him. He did have some rubbish in his game. Madge has got him focused and has defined his role and Reynolds has executed that very well.

I just hope Benji doesn't come straight back in and push Grub to the bench or reserve grade. Benji has had his day, I just wish the media would stop talking him up, he has done nothing this year, or the second half of last year either

## Statistics don’t always tell the full story and Josh Reynolds’ erratic style means he has an error or two in him, but his attitude is doing wonders for Michael Maguire’s team.

Reynolds missed nine tackles in the Tigers thrilling 22-16 victory over the Broncos, but his performance had the commentators in rapture.

“He is always the first one there and energy is infectious among your teammates and Reynolds has it in spades,” Corey Parker said in commentary.

“He’s been brilliant with his kick and chase tonight and he has been everywhere.”

Reynolds’ stats sheet against the Broncos read 26 run metres from four runs, with a try assist and 18 tackles, but he missed nine.

On the surface the stats are not amazing and he was outplayed by his halves partner Luke Brooks.

However, Reynolds’ kick-chase game was a major reason why the Tigers were able to keep the pressure on the Broncos, especially in the final quarter of the match, as Braith Anasta noted in commentary.

“He’s becoming a master at these kicks,” Anasta said.

“Last week against the Panthers he had two kicks for tries and two repeat sets and he has had another two repeat sets tonight.

“He gets the timing and the depth of the kicks and he’s the first one there in the chase.”

Reynolds started the season in reserve grade, but has been a ball of energy and enthusiasm since returning to the top side against the Panthers.

Against Penrith, Reynolds also had four missed tackles, but with them came 17 tackles and two try-assists in a man-of-the-match performance, despite the 9-8 golden point loss.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire was effusive in his praise for his halves after they learned from their mistakes against the Panthers with the game on the line against Brisbane.

“That shows the maturity of the team and the senior players and not only that, but just my halves as well,” Maguire said.

“They have been working tirelessly in the background to make sure they understand in moments in games what you need to do and they are showing that on the park.

“That’s the belief in each other to be able to go and do that.

“I’ve got a really tight group and I’ve walked into a team and they look after each other.”

The Tigers set up for a game-winning field goal, but due to the pressure from the Broncos defence, they chose to run the ball leading to Michael Chee Kam’s winning try.

The ability to react to the moment on the run was not lost on Maguire.

“They set up for the field goal, so you learn your lesson from the week before and you take that forward and we showed that tonight,” Maguire said.

“They could have had a rushed kick field goal, but then they ran the ball and we knew that could possibly happen at some point.

“The boys actually practised that and that’s what happens and practice comes out at times like that.”

The Tigers’ coach knows he will have a selection headache when Benji Marshall returns from injury, but he is excited to have such depth in his playmaking stocks.

“I think they are growing the boys and even with Benji too, I’ve got a good mix of boys there,” Maguire said.

“We’ve changed our style of how we want to play and the combinations of our halves and they are adapting really well.

“That was a game that came down to the last play and sure enough they did a good job.”

This cannot be overstated! It's been the major difference to the team, along with his accurate kicking game that actually gets us repeat sets and tries! It's been a fair while since we had a kicker this good.
