I'd go as far to say that unless a stray North Korean missile hits the team bus, anything less than 8th is not acceptable next year. Madge and Hartigan have made a concerted effort to improve the roster. Stacked in the outside backs and front row/lock. A few options in the halves and the only place we lack is second row and fullback (Mbye is a reasonable short term option here if they coat his hands in super glue.)

Only teams I see dropping out of the 8 are sharks and knights, we’ll have to compete with quite a few other clubs to try take that spot. It won’t be easy at all to make it but if we can play our best consistently we can do it

I don't know about that, I reckon Parra could implode. Jenko gone for PED's, signed Cartwright, Ferguson wasn't a patch on seasons gone by. Souths are still thin up front too, a few injuries among the back 5 and they come well back to the pack.

I expect us, Manly and the Schoolies to all be thereabouts for a top 8 spot.

Maybe but parras roster is still strong, they should be beating all the bottom 8 teams at least

I have a feeling that Parramatta might struggle to make the 8 next year as well as the sharks. Like Manly losing Turbo this season if they lose Gutterson for an extended time will struggle as others don't step up and Moses over rated.

We lost both games to them last season but were close both times we need to turn that around.

I fancy our chances against Parra. I think they're on the decline.

I have the same instinct about this too....I think that the players they lost, the players they signed and some of their aging talent it's time for them to plummet to where they belong....in the gutter

So usually 2 teams drop out of the 8 most years.
Sounds like we are nominating Parra and the other i think will be the sharks.

Titans should be better next season so they might go close and let's hope we are the other team elevated into the 8.

Paper saying we still take on 500k of his salary in next years cap...

“The Tigers have been hamstrung in recent seasons by big-money deals handed out to senior players who, for various reasons, have failed to deliver on their pay packets. Reynolds’ exit frees up approximately $500,000 in the Tigers’ cap next year, giving them more purchasing power on the open market.“

His exit FREEs up $500k.

I don’t see why we’d have to. Couldn’t we just pay him that outside the cap, as he’s not going to a team in our direct competition? Because he no longer had an nrl contract .

Good point, but maybe Hull only offered him the $500k and we need to dip in the rest on our books, as he will still need to be paid his contract money.
BTW, wasn’t he on $850k, so what ever the figure Hull gave him and people are saying $500k, then it would actually be $350k on our books?

We have already paid him some of his $750K salary, as the contracts start at November 1, which means $62,500 per month, so we have at least paid around $90,000 already

Josh and the club would need to agree to a release from his NRL contract so he could sign an ESL contract that would have no ties to the NRL contract.... so in a nutshell he would have been paid about $125k from his 2021 $750k contract.

So are you saying that it is only $125k on the WT's books for him?

All the best to JRey in the UK, reckon it will do him some good and suit his style of play. Can't fault his attitude, he has certainly always been positive at WT and I reckon the Hull fans will love his passion.

I wish JRey all the best. Dropped a few $ on him for the premiership there and will back him for the men of steel when he is added.

I don't think anyone can say he did not give his all while here. Unfortunately injuries and selection decisions meant that he did not get much of an opportunity to show his skills.

Was probably a panic signing and not worth the money that was on offer, but today's interview shows that he did take pride and wanted to perform.

I too wish Josh all the best in the ESL...It wasn't his fault Ivan threw him a 4 year $3m deal, who wouldn't sign that!....reality was he only ever was a $300-$400kp.a. player which is what the Dogs offered him to stay. With top dollar comes expectation, and granted he was injured alot of the time, but when he was on the field he showed he ain't a $750k talent...he should enjoy the next 2-3 years in Hull...Thank you Hodgo!,

Titans could bomb out next year- massive money contracts/the Titans hasn't been a good mix thus far. Expecting them to flop next year, happy with that after Prince dogging us for them moons ago.

Iwas excited when we got Reynolds,i don;t think he was a bad signing,he just had bad luck. The WT;S had Benji, and all his earlier injury problems but he got us a premiership and endless excitement Balmain before that probably lost 2 comps owing to never having a top half.

I know a guy who was a big time trader. I remember him stating sometimes it's better being lucky compared to anything else.

Given everything that's happened to him over the past couple of years I certainly don't begrudge him a change in fortunes. I think he's a genuinely good guy and I hope his luck holds out until he retires.
