I get a feeling we’ll see Douehi in the centres again soon. Especially if the MBye deal doesn’t go ahead.

I think it's more likely MBye to centre and leave AD at 6.

I’d rather see Mbye at the Dragons effective immediately - he’s simply heartless!

He certainly appears that way
Looks disinterested since being given the utility role.
If he was playing for a contract we might have seen more effort

The only time I've ever seen Mbye show some passion is in a game last year when he was fired up, can't remember who the game was against.
Maybe they game where Brooks punched Gagai.

Other than that though, the guys never shown any kind of heart, during any game.

Scary thought Pauga getting targetted by Walsh on Friday night .......

Walsh is 20% the player Trbojevic is. I am not worried about Pauga this week. He's a weak defender but the Warriors are not Manly and won't be able to exploit him anywhere near as much.

Pauga will have his own back in kind on the Warriors I reckon. He looked dangerous with the ball and the Warriors just lost RTS and look like a shot fighter in the 12th round right now.

But sure if Pauga has a total shocker in defense, gets totally carved up by a hapless Warriors team as bad as he did against the best player in the world and a red hot Manly side, I will shift my rhetoric to he sucks and we should start *spins roulette wheel* Hoffman next week.

Why is Kia Cooper not getting a run, surely he is better then what we have been putting up with?

Simple answer is he isn't.

He isn't a shade on Maumalo or Nofoaluma who were Dally M Winger of the Year 2019 and 2020 respectively. He hasn't been playing centre all year in reggies. The better question is why Hoffman or Cini aren't getting a run at centre which is their actual positions.

Like sure maybe there is a small chance the coaches are just wrong and the random guy we picked up on train and trial from the Koori knockout is actually secretly a first grader. But like, you're talking about shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic.

Centre is suuuuch a weak spot for us. We put all our faith in Leilua and Roberts and came up with duck eggs on both.

I'm hoping next year Kepaoa proves to be up to it as a first grade centre and one of Gildart or a new signing (Smith-Shields or something) are the other centre.

When was the last time a player in the NRL missed 14 tackles in one game? I can't remember ever.

He misses plenty for sure, but his hands look good and he's good on his feet.

Who do you drop between him and Talau?

Neither ?

we have no one better.

1 Laurie
2 Cini
3 Nofo
4 Mbye
5 Maumalo

Worth a shot?

2 Jet
3 Fiji
4 Talau (last chance)

Pauga is missed tackle after missed tackle after missed tackle. Combined with TT errors every game what an embarrassing centre pairing. Both should be in reserve grade.

Rough ..
He only missed 14 tackles ?

hahahaha

One of the Dragons game this season he pulled off some massive hits ....one on one of their props ...Kerr or the bench prop ....one might have been Hunt as well ...created 2 turnovers .....learn to push his right buttons ....

Pauga's defence has not been great, but in theory you can teach defence. You can't teach speed, aggression, toughness etc.
Koribete was not good in defence either, but the Storm helped him improve that and so did the Wallabies.
You can't win with 17 attacking players or 17 defensive players, you need to balance both and help players improve where they can.

Very different mate...

Koro was new to the game, an athletic freak and powerful.

Pauga is 25 and simply not up to it. If you watch the replay back, his positioning and stuff was okay mainly...but he just can't match it with bigger blokes. He is tiny for a center. He just does not have the physical size needed for NRL.

At 25 he has had tons of time to bulk up, but he just can't.

Way too small. He was run over in STATE CUP games also...Tigers site has him listed much bigger than he really is.

Thank god Mbye can plug a hole. Haven’t seen a more clueless defender than Pauga since Jy Hitchcox

Think we should all watch Moses closely in this game.

Weak opposition.
In one of his better positions.

Let's see how motivation and intent he shows.

I am not ready to write him off after 2 games. He looks like the best attacking centre we have.

Really I would have used Nofa as the example for clueless defender. I never thought I would see the line "Thank god Mbye can plug a hole" written anywhere, especially not on this site. Yes Mbye can plug a hole, he just doesn't apply himself, commit to a tackle nor put himself in harms way, he just pockets his 12K a week knowing he won't have to do anything until next year Madge will still pick him.

He never shows motivation or intent.
Just worth keeping an eye on to see how he performs.
He's rubbish and I can't wait till he leaves but I'd like everyone to see how he goes in the game and see if he shows what he usually does and others can see what I see.

To be fair regarding recruitment of centres, BJ was 1 year since being the best centre in the world and Roberts was a no risk type signing.

Kepaoa actually did alright at centre in the 2 games he played there. He isn't a winger. And obviously we let Momirovski go for Laurie.

I feel that since we had inexperienced depth in centre with Talau/Kepaoa/Pauga, Madge decided to add experience and speed via Roberts/BJ.

Unfortunately, depth is great but you still need first grade centres. That positoin has always been the toughest in defence but this year even moreso.
