Junior Pauga

Our squad is poor and we've given players away. It's not an excuse but that is what Sheens has done.

If Nofo and Gildart were here does Pauga play ? Do we lose that game ? Would Luc have made a difference ?
The plan seems to be that all those salaries saved = a better 2023 due to extra cap space.

Which I can accept.

But the Pom's latest update is basically no one is coming in 2023 anyway who is anything close to decent, so the 2022 cuts and loans no longer make much sense.

Be kind to Junior, he's just a kid... dumb error ok but it's not going to change the horror year we have
He is 26 years old.

Played for a long time.

He is not a kid.

He was a QLD state cup player who had failed to make it everywhere.

He has been very poor in state cup for wests.

Yet we have kept him in state cup for two seasons rather than dev actual outside backs. Our 2-5 are the worst in the comp by a mile.

None of that is his fault...it is a failure of the club that we are even talking about him.

Let’s wait until November comes by before we take judgement about that.
I would find it hard to believe that we would stack our 2023 salary cap from this this years savings and then have no plan to usefully spend it on new recruits.
Nope …. does not make much sense.

That Junior Pauga play absolutely summed us up.

Firstly, a Z grader is our depth. No NRL size or skill. Recruitment fail. Plays badly in a state cup team beaten by 100s past few weeks...finds himself in first grade.

Secondly, zero IQ as to what to do. Dumb team.

Thirdly, no one gave him a verbal for being so casual. Sam Walker copped it from JWH and Radley two weeks ago over a missed opp. We have no leaders.

Fourthly, a game that is won with a pen to lead by 8...we lose in the last min.

Honestly, that one play sums up the last few yearss.

We should title 2020-2022 the Pauga era.

Everything wrong with us in a single play.

And I don't even mean to single him out. He is not alone. But his moment captures everything wrong with the club.

He was not the idiot who released players early or loaned players to other clubs when we have a massive injury list and did not bother replacing them. That is completely on Sheens as is the appointment of Noddy as interim coach.

I think Starford has edged AJ out, if we're full strength.

Pauga is an out and out cup player, QLD or NSW otherwise. Should never play first grade.

I noted that the WNRL players are all forklift drivers and factory workers. I think that's where he belongs - not the WNRL bur working a regular job and perhaps playing some local league stuff.

He simply isn't good enough.

My backline for 2023, at this point (recruit PLEASE!!l

1 Laurie - unless we can find some one better.
2 Nofo
3 T'oa
4 Naden
5 Maumalo

Agreed with all of that....

Sadly, that 1-5 will equate to a guaranteed bottom 2 finish though in 23.

Sorry mate, compared to me he's still a kid... I'm old lol

Ok I do apologise, I thought he was still a kid, he looks so young and if he has been around and there's no improvement then they have to let him go and he should know the rules, specially basic ones... he had an ok game but we lost the game not just because of him... we were dumb all over the park

We don't just need new players for the NRL in 23...we desperately need a decent state cup team, who apply pressure and can come in and do jobs.

AJ would be dropped for a month for his four brain farts today by Bennet or Bellamy. Learn the game = reggies.

For us, he will be an automatic pick and is already banking his extension.
Not just his dumb 79 min act but no effort saints first 3 tries all scored about 10m from left corner and left center useless . Saints almost try intercept our 2 chasers Douehi and Naden check the tapes Aj didn't even run

Let's be very clear here. Gildart and Nofo are still contracted to us next year and Luc wasn't contracted next year. So we don't have extra cap space for next season.

I think the idea is that we re-sign players now and we front load them to give us more space next season but how much are To'a, Naden and Kepaoa on ? These guys are all money ball players.

But the Pom's latest update is basically no one is coming in 2023 anyway who is anything close to decent, so the 2022 cuts and loans no longer make much sense.

They make no sense at all. I've spun a lot of crap in my time and I can tell when somehow is a BS artist.

Sheens needs to start making good decisions because he is looking like the Shensius we sacked.

Sheensy has rolled the dice...if you spend only a certain % of your cap, you get it as extra for 23. Not sure how much, but it is significant.

Sheens win IF he lands some signings.

Sheens loses IF we land no one and get the spoon...

(The Pom's latest update not sounding good though)

Agree but the word edged out is mild its no contest

Maybe even Talau can shake things up in our backline.

Although from what I've seen from his past games.... I doubt it.

I'm off all these reserve graders.

The extra space comes from what was not spent this season, as far as I am aware.

I think if you spent 95% this year, you can go to 105% next year. Not sure.

Or front end other players.

But, yes, Sheens needs to land a blow or three.

At the moment, he has nothing to show for the past two months.

The Luciano release and loans add max 500k to our 2023 cap so instead of cap approx 10.3 mill its maybe 10.75 mill but can't sign anyone ? We need to somehow improve our basket case image and recruit . Sheens total silence so far . We can't make top 8 with our cup and juniors
