Who knows what's going on with youth contracts given they've all had a year wiped out of their careers and age groups for comps have been extended. They may have originally had him for dev next year based on playing a full season, perhaps that been renegotiated seeing his development has been delayed due to covid.

What did clubs do their Flegg players and their contracts seeing the comp was cancelled by NSWRL? No one knows

Zane's in the SG Ball side again for Balmain this year. Development deal might be for 2022?

He's only in SG Ball so he'll more than likely step to up the development player group in 2022 at the earliest when he would progress to Flegg.

Watching the Schoolboys final and got to say Westfield are very disappointing. They've been awful. Halves are atrocious. 2 kicks out on the full, one in the final minute gave Pats the ball and they scored with 10 seconds til halftime.

They just look small and completely lacking any organisation. 12-4 suddenly at the half.

Solomone Saukuru looks a handful but has only touched the ball twice in the first half. Api Saukuru looked like a workhorse but tired himself out. Took about 12 hitups in the first 15 mins then went off for a breather. Guyan looks small but has been solid.

Solomon Saukuru needs the ball more especially close to the line. Scored a great try he’s impossible to stop that close

Pats brothers have been better. Brad Arthur’s young fella looks a good halfback.

Anyone that had a contract (including Flegg) received JobKeeper with many being better off than their contract amounts.

Most have come out of contract and are now being renegotiated. Delays have been experienced due to the uncertainty of the cap, competition structure (now becoming clearer with NSW Cup being announced yesterday) and player movement at NSW Cup and NRL level.

Training commenced a couple of weeks ago with quite a few there expecting a contract but not officially signed as yet.

Most of the other clubs would be facing the same issues so expect that any contracts not finalised yet should be sorted out over the next few weeks.

I would hope that the club used the ongoing JobKeeper payment for those that were coming off contract & they were wanting to renew. If the fixed term contract was finishing on or before 27 September and not renewed by that date, those employees will no longer be eligible for JobKeeper for the next 6 months.

What it means is that if we had any junior, Cup or Flegg players coming off contract & we wanted to keep them, if their $ was less than JobKeeper amount, a planning opportunity was there for JobKeeper to cover their costs or at least significantly subsidise it assuming the club satisfied the turnover test (down by at least 30%).

This amount could be quite significant given the number of players right throughout the club.

I'm pretty sure the finance dept would have sought advice on this but am unaware if they used this strategy. As I said they would have to satisfy the turnover test which I'm pretty sure they should given that the September 2020 quarter would be compared to September 2019.

Happy to be shot down in flames but I hope we looked at it carefully.

He did score a good try. Apparently he's only 15, or maybe 16 now. Big boy. Bit of Moses Suli about him.

All in all Pats deserved to win, Westfield were all over the shop. Highly disorganised. Tohi looked the best of the forwards. Interesting that over half their team is of Fijian background. A school recruitment strategy perhaps?

The Saukuru brothers will be playing Flegg next year for us so more likely to be turning 18. Suspect both boys will get a hell of a lot stronger once they get a sniff of training with FG down the track.

Api played sg ball for the dogs, Solomone played matts this year. Solomone featured in a Fijian u15 side last year.

They may both end up playing Flegg next year but Solomone will still be a few years away from the possibility of First grade. Lambkin has done well to bring them both to us.

Solomone is in Wests' Harold Matts side, Apisalome in our SG Ball.

I was talking to my nephew today he was set to trial at a few clubs for HM including Tigers, roosters and sharks apparently the only one of these clubs that did not cancel their trials out of these clubs were the sharks obviously due to covid. Just thought I'd post this in case anyone was wondering about juniors trialling for next year

Can your nephew kick goals?
Tigers will sign immediately

Well considering he is part chilean, part hondurian and played soccer until he found league was his game he probably could but no he is not a goal kicker.

According to Dixon McIver - NRL Player Agent the club has signed the following:

Jarney Proctor
Tamehana Paruru
Tray Lolesio

I know they played SG Ball this year before the juniors were cancelled. Not sure whether they would just be thrown into Flegg next season or stay in Ball. Wests certainly need help, Balmain less so.

Everything's obviously up in the air but i reckon a number of our top prospects from our 2020 Flegg squad will just jump straight to CC next year. We won't have signed any CC players as the comp wasn't announced it was going ahead until recently. Better to promote the juniors that are physically up to playing men and give our younger or less physically developed juniors the chance to play in flegg. Sure seems enough talent from sg ball to jump into flegg.
