Strange decision from Camroux. He is at the Knights, but they're not fielding a Flegg team in 2021 for some bizarre reason. So he signed a one year deal up there to maybe only play SG Ball, unlikely to play NSW Cup having only played a few games at Ball level previously and being quite skinny.

Think the Knights head hunted him to replace Jonah Pezet.

Didn’t his family move to The mid north coast ? . I thought that was the main reason .

But which comp is he going to be playing in? Seems a long way to go to play sg ball and then sit on the sidelines all year

But it is like any change of club ...you have to back yourself to move on and move upwards ...if you don't what's the use

Wests won both games.

Looked more impressive in Harold Matts game but won in both. Harold Matts was probably about 5 or 6 tries to 2? SG Ball score was 3 tries to 2 when I left the ground.

Balmain SG Ball had quite a small side compared to the Wests outfit which the coach admitted to as much in his pre-match address, (“we might not be the biggest side in the comp, but we’re the most mobile and definitely the fastest”) but played with a lot of heart.

No team lists I could find but standouts for me were Balmain’s #4 from both grades as well as Mikey Tannous the Balmain SG Ball hooker.

Interesting if Balmain have a very small ball side this year. That would be a grave mistake. Also Balmain's hooker would be Anjoul, highly doubt Tannous would have played there given he's a primarily a 5/8.

4 from SG ball may have been Oskar Enasio or Livai Saukuru? They were centres in the side last season. Unless they were trying some new faces which is also possible.

Surprising that wests won both games considering how uncompetitive they were last season and Balmain had Tumeth, O'Kane and a few others who've been training with first grade. Though if i recall a couple of the young guys signed from Canterbury will play for the Magpies this season.

Anyways we'll see how they go in the next trials, given they're against other clubs there might be more news than what was effectively an in house trial.

Yes for sure, definitely looking forward to seeing some more of both sides.

Not sure of the centre but the starting hooker was definitely Tannous.

Not certain if Anjoul played as well but I spoke to Mikey before the game.

No, am of part-Lebanese background so have followed Tannous, Jon Ibrahim etc. coming through thanks to knowing family members of theirs and hearing about their talent through the grades.

Just a big Tigers fan and like to get out to lower grade games when I can.

Interesting. Would be very strange to play him at hooker when we already have a number of top young hookers, including one already in that same exact team. I presume you know of Anjoul if you follow the Lebanese boys.

Given we have very limited options at 6 it makes sense that he plays there as much as possible. Maybe it was just a one off for a trial if Anjoul was unavailable.

Yeah, not sure.

I can see what you mean about limited options at 6 though. Tannous did a lot of kicking out of dummy half and found a lot of success kicking to corners whereas the halves struggled (albeit with a small forward pack).

At halftime, Balmain brought on a completely new lot of forwards who seemed to go better than the first lot. Was standing near the Balmain bench at halftime and the coach (not sure of name) was persistent on the fact that they're a small side, but mobile and much fitter than Wests.

They did have more success in the second half from what I saw and levelled the game at one point, so he might be on to something.
