Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

A few stories about Callum McMenemy playing for South Africa yesterday has him now contracted to the Parramatta Eels.

Callum was a solid winger/centre previously in the Magpies pathways system and will be Jersey Flegg age in '26.

I'd say the move is his place in the priority list of outside backs at the club, behind similar aged Makasini, Laulilii, Max Taotua, Xavier Tauifaiga, Oitmann, Jack Nicholas and with the likes of James Lanyon & Glassie Glassie emerging who are 1-2 years younger.

Hopefully the club announces the summer training squads soon so we know who is with us from 16s to 19s.
Interesting as Callum has a bit of height, size and strength, I would have prioritised him over a couple of the others on that list.
I’m fairly certain Shannon Gallant would have played alongside Callum’s father Shayne McMenemy for the Wests Magpies.

Phoenix Godinet and Ali Karnib are worth following on the socials.

Both seem to be really pushing some content that we don't usually see from younger players.

Both seem to be very much immersed in the training / coaching side of things, helping other younger players perfect their craft.

Phoenix, especially, is tapped in with setting goals and building himself as a brand.

🐯 TIGERS SIGN ANOTHER LUAI:

Calvary Luai (Jarome's younger brother) has been named in the U19s SG Ball Cup squad for the Balmain Tigers.

The centre is known for his great carries and defensive reads and has been compared to Brian To'o.
Assume this is what Jarome meant when he talked about club looking after his family. Assume we will see the contract confirmed now.

Yeah makes sense now, although at the time I thought it was a bit of a weird comment. You're getting paid $1.2M a season, the club is looking after your family.
