Justin Pascoe Letter to Members and Fans

I felt that Robbie was just what we needed in this game, attacking flair and unpredictability, I just hope that Mitch & Luke can make up for it in spades, Elijah may have come as our saviour but he is not A Hooker/Dummy half and should never be utilised as such, he is an attacking weapon not a tackler, really Elijah has been called on to do so much tackling when he should be a creative spark!.

Dear Wests Tigers Members,

I’m taking this opportunity to write to you to ensure you get the truth directly from me, and not get influenced by what you read, see or hear in the media or online, and the agendas that are attached to that.

I understand that there is going to be some of you that are upset over the decision made yesterday to play Robbie Farah in our Intrust Super Premiership team this weekend.

As with all clubs in all sports it’s never the role of the Board or the CEO to choose the starting line up each week and it never will be. This decision is a decision that is based on what the coaching staff believe is best for the team for an 80 minute period against this week’s opponent. As in all sporting organisations the coaching staff are employed to make decisions that they believe will give the team the best chance of winning on any given day, against any given opponent.

Again, I stress that this will never, and nor should it, change. The coach has full right to determine the game plan and the team that best suits that game plan. As a club we are very fortunate to have an abundance of creative playmakers and this should be seen as a positive by you all, not a negative.

The decision to not play Robbie Farah in the NRL side this week has no correlation with the events that occurred last year, it’s very important to understand this. I have spoken to a lot of you over the last 10 months about how this organisation is working together to develop a strong culture, a culture where robust discussions can take place without judgment or consequence, where leaders are developed and where our core values of TEAM, EXCELLENCE and RESPECT are lived daily. We’re really proud of how much progress we’re making, it’s a truly collective effort, there is not one single person in this organisation who has not bought into this and who has not worked hard to support this.

At Wests Tigers we speak a lot about how one’s character is best defined by the action one takes when no one is looking and I encourage everyone who is a Member or fan of Wests Tigers to continue to be passionate and supportive of the team. It’s important to remember that there are 17 players that have trained extremely hard, have put blood, sweat and tears into their preparation and have pushed themselves all year who will run out onto ANZ Stadium to face the Dragons this Sunday. They will give their all to each other, you as Members, and the wider fan base with a single focus, to win.

As Members you have joined this organisation to support the team and this Sunday our Wests Tigers NRL team will again run out and do us all proud.

We have so many positive signs in this business. Our Membership has increased from 9,000 last year to over 14,000 this year, we have partnered with more than 25 new corporate customers and that continues to grow, our game day investments are paying off with crowds up over 30% on last year and we have re-signed a number of players while continuing to add innovation and a progressive attitude to our daily business operations.

We’re proud to say that we are more active in our community than we ever have been before. As I’ve said many times our community programs are incredibly important to the Club. We were very proud to raise a significant amount of money for the Picton community from our Path to Picton fundraising walk and have engaged with a number of new community partners this year. We are more than just games of football on the weekend. We have an opportunity to help improve the lives of those we interact with on a daily basis and we will strive to have a positive impact on our entire community.

As we charge towards the finals there are over 60 contracted players throughout NRL, Intrust Super Premiership and Holden Cup that require your commitment, passion and support. Let’s remain strong as a group and let’s continue to focus on the enormous potential that exists within this organisation both on and off the field. I can’t stress enough to you that if we can unlock the potential of this brand we can all enjoy success.
Justin Pascoe, Wests Tigers CEO

Pascoe must have been an advertising executive in a past life. All he needs is a pony tail and he'll fit right into the Moulded.
What a lot of duckshoving crap!!
Not a mention of how well it was working with Farah coming off the bench. Or how our right side can not defend if their life depended on it,
Just typical executive B/S
We should have Whacked the Dragons this weekend , going by their crappy form in the last couple of weeks, now ,After this latest fiasco, I couldn't care less how it ends up,
A bit earlier this year I didn't even listen to one of our games,
That was the first time that I can remember doing that.
I'm sick And tired of a coach that has split a club with his amateurish handling of most things that he has touched

I don't think so. In light of all the media spin and people freaking out on here, I agree with what Pascoe has done. I think the only thing Taylor has done wrong was name Farah in FG in the first place. Should have told him Tuesday arvo he wasn't going to be named and then issue a media release.

Just read my email from Pascoe. I guess he is putting out fires again. The guy is a smart operator he would have known how this thing would blow up. I just wonder if it is worth all the pain.

Anyway he seems to be the best CEO we have ever had, so there must be some good reasons he did not persuade Taylor to try another path.

I think all other paths have been closed. He's had 12 months to find another club.

Jeez Gallagher , for the last time. He's contracted here!!!
He doesn't have to go anywhere.
All that's needed is for players here to be selected on form, if so, he'l be in the team.
This is B/s, and so is Pascoe's attempt to justify it.

In my view Pascoe is just treating the fans with disrespect, lies lies lies. Blind Freddie can see we are not putting our best team forward, yet Pascoe tells me this has nothing to do with last year. I'm sorry but I just cannot believe it

The whole team was on leave Tuesday…Wednesday was the 1st opportunity to address both the Team and Farah..

What Pascoe has done here is laid the decision firmly on the football dept...which it is..but if it goes pear shape he has his fall guy..

I know he's contracted. But he was told last year to find a new club or you could end up in reserve grade.
He chose to stay put. Good him, but taylor did warn him reserves would be an option.
The club is standing by his contract.

Yeah TT, he's certainly looked like he was over it in most of the games (especially the ones where he came off the bench as the Coach wanted)
You have to be kidding if you swallow the line that he's stifling the halves, they didn't see stifled after he came on in his last game.
More like Taylor doesn't want him there because it would he harder to squeeze him out if he continued to play as well as he has in the last few games.

GCT,here we go again,Farah is beyond his prime,he had his heydays,he was captain and we didn't make the finals in recent years. . but then again it must always be the coaches fault….he is at the end of his career, there will be life without RF,let the youth have a go,after all we have invested heavily in them, let them show some of that great potential they are known to have,Robbie showed his and its time to go,he is not the club as many here think he is....900,000 dollars for 20/30 mins a game doesn't cut it anymore....lose the rose coloured glasses and move on GCT....

Justin Pascoe is a politician in the waiting. Hedging his bets and making sure none of the crap will fall his way if things go bad.

What a load of dribble …
If Farah goes or stays in reggies we still have to pay him $950 k

He's been going good playing off the bench in his last couple of games ..
So TT who do you rate as our best hooker ??

Hobbo,RF is the best hooker out of a bad lot,Ball in injured,Chery injured,Liddle salary cap restrictions…if they were all fit and able to play,I would pick Liddle, however Farah was picked in the 17 and then dropped suddenly,Why would that be,many on here complained that his service was ordinary for us,but at SOO time he is the greatest since Ali,I'm completely over him and the years of drama that surrounds him year after year,we won't go forward while he keeps pulling us back. I don't care who plays hooker anymore,we are doing a lot better this year than last and aren't fighting for the wooden spoon as most said we would..and yes he does play better off the bench ,but who got him to play that way? Was it Ayoub or Taylor...but then again I don't CARE anymore....

If we were losing Farah to satisfy a class Coach, there could be an argument mounted on the benefit of that,
But Taylor will never be a class Coach.
So we could lose one of the better players in the team , just to placate someone whose probably coaching his last NRL team. And also doing this when we don't have a better replacement in the club, all because Taylor wants a scapegoat to blame for an ordinary stay at the club.and after he wasted a whole season by coaching dull , dumb football.
And the result is that whenever a team really puts it on us We Still Can't Defend.
Isn't it ironic that Farah is one of our best tacklers
