Jy Hitchcox set to join Featherstone Rovers

It's been announced over here in England that Jy Hitchcox will be joining the team I support, Featherstone Rovers, subject to Visa, Featherstone finished second in the 2014 Championship over here (2nd tier after Super League). Have seen his Youtube videos and know he plays in the threequarters/full back, would be interested in any thoughts on how he'll go over here (he's the 3rd Aussie to join us along with Ryan Verlinden from Newtown Jets & Sam Irwin from Tweed Heads Seagulls)?

Hitchcox is only a small bloke, but he's very quick and elusive and I suspect he will go quite well in your second tier comp as he is pretty solid in our second tier state cup comp in Australia.

I would think he should go really well at 2nd tier UK league level. Plenty of pace and a good finisher. Good luck to Jy.

As Willow says , i think he will do very well for you guys , has speed and is not scared to take the line on . He got his chance for the Tigers due to our injuries and i was surprised how he handled himself. Good Luck with him.

Irwin was a fringe player with the Broncos and Titans

Hitchcox looked ok in his games at NRL level

Yet another player released

Surely he is too good to be playing 2nd division over there?
He would easily be a very good Super League player.

The boundaries are becoming a bit blurred between SL & Championship (2nd tier) over here, as two teams were relegated from SL last year (London and Bradford) and two thirds of the way through next season the bottom 4 from SL and the top 4 from Championship form a middle 8 who play each other once to decide which four of the 8 start the following season in SL. There is a bit more money up for grabs and the stakes are high, hence signings like Fui Fui Moi Moi for Leigh. Championship will be a competitive league next year.

Taylor must have full faith in our S&C team. Not that this bloke is any loss but the lack of depth suggests the coach isn't expecting any injuries in 2015.

He's not an NRL player but for a team in the bottom half of the SL or top of the championship that would be about his level.

100% commitment so you can't really bag the guy, he'll bust his gut for his team, but he's just not quite at NRL level in the end
