Keiran Foran

My guess Foran will end up at the Knights. A good fit for both parties. Foran close to his kids and having sone custody but out of the Sydney media limelight and a big signing fir the Knights and their young roster.

Our club at this time is the worst choice he could make.

No way! Knights and us never get the big guns - he'll end up at the Bulldogs or Roosters.

He will only go the knights if they offer him really big money or liked playing with Trent.
He would probably go the Bulldogs if Des shows some interest. Lets face it if you win a premiership with a coach you are going to want to link up with him again.

There is nothing at the Tigers for Foran. Roosters probably won't take him unless he is cheap, he doesn't fit their roster unless they can drop people. Also we should not want him for the same reasons we don't want moses. Foran is a try assister, not a great kicker (from memory) and not a halfback. I would take Cooper Cronk in a second over Foran because he would give our side the structure it needs. He plays for a year and mentors Brooks into a proper half role.

I can't see him going anywhere but Melbourne. Cooper Cronk's money has clear up, he'd be out of the limelight, he'd have Bellamy, Smith and Slater as well as going to a team who will be in the finals.

His Dad is the CEO of Walmart so he definitely doesn't need to go chasing the money. I think Melbourne is a likely destination (I don't buy the "being closer to family" line).

MELBOURNE Storm is reportedly planning to backflip on its intention to bring Kieran Foran to the club in 2018.

Cooper Cronk is moving from the Victorian capital to Sydney at the end of this season to be with his fiancee, meaning coach Craig Bellamy is on the lookout for someone to fill a position in the halves.

Foran, who joined the New Zealand Warriors this season on a one-year deal, will be highly sought after among clubs looking to boost their playmaking stocks. After missing much of last year with personal issues that led to him walking out on Parramatta, it’s been reported the Kiwi international is looking to come back to Australia next year.

But it’s unlikely he will end up at the Storm. NRL 360 co-host Paul Kent says while coach Craig Bellamy is interested in the 26-year-old, club officials are concerned about the drama he may bring with him following well-publicised issues including the breakdown of his marriage and his relationship with former brothel owner Eddie Hayson.

“Craig Bellamy was very keen to get Kieran Foran,” Kent said. “The Melbourne hierarchy sat down and they’ve got concerns based on all the stuff that’s happened in the past 18 months off-field. It’s nothing to do with his football.

“They’ve spent so much time and energy building the brand down there, they don’t really want to put it at risk by bringing Foran in and having it all blow up in their face.”

Kent also said Foran’s family commitments may deter him from joining Melbourne. “My understanding is that Kieran’s custody issues with his ex-partner and children have been sorted out, which for him to get the required custody, requires him to be in Sydney,” he said.

Prior to this news, Melbourne fullback Billy Slater said Foran was the perfect candidate to replace Cronk.

“Of the guys that are off contract … probably a Kieran Foran,” Slater responded when asked on Channel Nine’s Footy Show about who should replace Cronk. “I think he would suit the style of play down in Melbourne.

“Just the directness that he plays with would certainly suit our style of football as well.”

However, if Melbourne is out of the frame, that opens the door for other teams — such as Newcastle — to snatch Foran up. The Knights have reportedly launched a bid to sign him as he met with coach Nathan Brown on the weekend.

Foran travelled from Canberra to the NSW Central Coast to discuss the prospect of leaving the Warriors after Saturday’s loss to the Raiders.

But Brown said he was none the wiser about Foran’s intentions after the weekend meeting.

“We met up on the Central Coast and had a chat,” Brown told News Corp. “But honestly, whether living in Newcastle is a genuine option for Kieran, I don’t know.”

Foran has also been linked to a reunion with former Manly coach Des Hasler at Canterbury.

Just watched Sterlos show and the intimation is that Widdop will go back to Melbourne, apparently his wife is from there.

That then leaves us in a quandrey, who will be our 5/8 ??.

Obviously Foran must come into the equation.

The Dogs would be favourites but with Cleary as Coach and facilities situation probably on the up, plenty of money in the cap and a more solid roster with Matulino, Milne, possibly Packer, McQueen we offer a lot.

The other factor is apparently he has to be in Sydney, he has ruled out Newcastle (per Sterlos show) so basically it comes down to us or the Dogs.

We are a chance !!!?

We are a chance. We are a club that has a perfect fit for foran. We have the cash, we have the coach, and hopefully foran had the vision to see he could do great things here. His daughter is on northern beaches so that would rule Newcastle out…...fingers crossed Ivan can sell the plan

So here is my plan of what might happen in 2018 with the current off-contract halves:

Tigers
6\. Widdop
7\. Brooks

Dogs.
6\. Foran
7\. Frawley

Melbourne
6\. Reynolds
7\. Croft

Dragons
6\. McCrone/Hutchison
7\. Hunt

Yep this was touted by Cronk himself about a week ago. Widdop to Melbourne, Foran to Canterbury. The best we can hope for is Reynolds - God forbid!

I'd take Reynolds over Moses

Geez that's not a good thought.. But it could actually happen, which is even more concerning.

If we can't get Widdop (which seems to be getting less likely) we need to throw some big money at Foran. I can't think of another option we could be truly happy with.

Shaun Johnson, Reynolds, Milford.

Most realistic thing we can do is sign Reynolds and an outside back who can kick. Michael Gordon probably wouldn't be the worst option for a year then go after a marquee fullback for 2019 if any are available. Surely we could enquire about Lolohea. Plays fullback and kicks goals. 2 birds with one stone.

I have massive concerns for our team now with no Teddy, Woods, Moses.
How do we attract good players with no talent on board already.

I don't want everybody just blaming the management for this as I truly believe Justin is still trying to recovery from past management and is about their. I also didn't want to blow 900k on Woods as he is clearly not a leader and we could have 2 very good forwards for that money.

So I am fully behind the new coach and have my fingers crossed we can land at least 1 high profile player to entice others to come.

I am still dumb founded how Woods keeps delaying his decision as it just makes our club look bad and doesn't help with recruiting others. HE SHOULD NOT BE THE CAPTAIN full stop..

Shaun Johnson would be good but I don't like our chances. The others don't really draw much excitement.. Reynolds would do I guess, if he stayed consistent and level headed. Didn't know Milford was a real possibility but I don't rate him anyway.

Milford is doing a Woods, Moses, Tedesco, had a contract in front of him for quite some time, hasn't signed and is now put out by the big deal and trouble they went to buy Bird, so there is a small window there.
