Talau is off contract but I'm pretty sure we will keep him - probably be him and Gildart at centre in '23 if all goes to plan

I like Talau despite his obvious flaws. Gildart is still an unknown, I'd still prefer Herbie Farnworth over both of them
Mate it is simple numbers. We don't have enough second rowers. If you think three first grade back rowers is sufficient I can't help you.
Our centre options aren't great but at least if one or two go down there's players to come up whom have played first grade.

Better diabolical than non existent. At least Sheens is back and we can shoehorn centres into second rowers when any of Pap, Blore or Garner go down injured.
Talau could very much end up in the back row.. Sheens prototype..

Elite is a stretch. Melbourne definitely don’t have that many elite forwards. They just excel in the system

Yes, I think he could be good for a centre position as well but a lot hinges on how long he will be out for.
Does anyone know how long he is gone for?
The kid has had no luck with problems with his eyes, ACL and now a pec injury which has meant he hasn't had any game time for a long while and may be pushing it to get much meaningful game time in this season as well.
Maybe 5 with good depth?

They have had that many guys playing international football for a while. The system is part of that but we can’t go bringing in one good second rower and thinking that’s going to be enough to complete. Some of our current crop need to lift and we still need to make a splash in the market.
