Kicker

I heard it tossed around that Braith might take over kicking duties? Any truth to this rumour?

Personally, I am sick of Benji kicking, he is too inconsistent, not like Brett Hodgson who was the greatest goal kicker ever!!

The last i heard Benji will stay kicker and its good that we have a second and third option with Anasta and Miller. And mabe Marshall and Anasta can share the kicking duty.

At this stage, is Braith even a certain starter in the run on side? I thought Marshall kicked quite well last season - a few off days, but then even the great Len Killeen missed a few sitters  Either way, both Benji and Braith are quite competent in this department these days. Happy either way.

Coaches call If he is being serious he has 3 high quality kickers Benji ,Miller and Anasta

If he rates them all equal I would lean towards Anasta if he is playing 80 minutes

I think the less things Benji has to worry about the better for Benji and the Tigers . Miller will need time to settle into top grade

Benji will retain the goalkicking duties. Anasta will be a backup option.

For the last two years there has been basically no difference between Marshall and Anasta as goal kickers. Actually Marshall's reputation as a bad kicker largely rests on the first couple of years he did it, in which he averaged 67% success.

Marshall 2011
78/107 = 73%

Anasata 2011
41/54 = 76%

Marshall 2012
72/95 = 76%

Anasta 2012
62/82 = 76%

The difference between the two of them is about five points over two seasons. On that basis I'd argue that you go with what you have, especially as Marshall is guarateed to be picked every week if fit. What happens if Anasta gets left out in round 12, say, and Marshall has to take over kicking again having not been doing so all season?

Incidentally, the reference to Hodgson's goal kicking in the intial post made me assume this is about goal kicking. In terms of kicks in play, if I never have to see Marshall put up a bomb again as long as I live I'd be happy.

With the last part of your comment ,that will be the same no matter who you pick as goal kicker

If the goal kicker you choose for the season duties gets injured ,someone else will have to takeover

Field Kicking wise we will be far better served with Miller and Anasta and Farah kicking from dummy half

I wasn't talking about injuries: anyone could get injured, and when you get injuries you have to cope as best you can. That's a given.

What I'm saying is that if you have two goal kickers who are pretty much equally good, you should go with the one whose place in the side based on ability is closest to guaranteed.

I agree 100% with your last comment.

Anasta has just a bad a habit of putting in a shocking kick at goal as Marshall. I would like to see Miller given the duties

Beni will kick.
Anasta playing in the back row will add a bit of extra yardage into his legs making it a little more difficult and miller will be finding his way

Whats to say Benji can't be dropped after a couple of shockers 2041 Still the same situation

Miller would be happy to just be getting a game I'd reckon KS. Goalkicking is a high-pressure job, especially at the business end of the season so I would think the coaches might want an experienced bloke kicking for goal.
Benji has a bad tendency to miss the easy ones though, I would prefer Braith.

Dont think playing back row makes any difference….been plenty good b/r g/k over the years

Pretty sure Potters been quoted or WTs have stated Anasta will back up Benji in the g/k dept

from the player profiles it sounds as though Benj will kick as both Miller and Anasta are classed as 'back-up' to Benj. Does anyone know Millers stats in NYC?
