Kids Footy

My son is being called the honey badger over here now. His hair is long blonde curly madness. Had to crack up when that came out. :roll
He went in the corner late in the game today which was nice. The hands to the left were remarkable - very Simona-esque.

The boys met the Roosters from Freo last Sunday in a match that was anticipated to be a pretty close affair as they'd finished 2nd and 3rd at seasons end. The Giants were pretty confident after the big game last week and so too were the Roosters after hammering South Perth Lions 44-6 in the other final. It was a see sawing match from start to finish which had the crowd totally engaged. Everything from kick offs that found the touch line to head high tackles, blistering speed and big hits to simple errors at crucial times were dished up and the crowd lapped it all up.
Half time saw the two teams pretty evenly matched in terms of possession but the Giants had taken advantage of their opportunities slightly better and went in with a lead of 6 points. Scoreline reading 18-12\. After the break, they went over to extend the lead to 24 - 12 but the Roosters weren't fazed and came back strongly to tie it up with 5 minutes to go. The Giants had the opportunity to push ahead but a flat pass from dummy half on the second tackle 5 meters out put an end to that. The ref called forward and the roosters took control. Two brilliant tries that were a little controversial but well deserved were scored. Both were length of the field efforts and the Giants just couldn't stay with them. Roosters took it out 36 to 24 and now meet the Sharks in the GF. A great season ended for our boys, but there's always next year.

Happy Junior got the best forward award

And then what happens , check the plaque and they have spelled his surname completely wrong

Told him that means he didn't score a try as this "other" kid scored them all, so now he has to do a nudie run

Big game this weekend. Joondalup Giants play Rockingham Sharks. Giants after 4 rounds (3 games and a bye) are on top of the table with a for and against which reads 206 for, 6 against. Rockingham are 2nd currently and have played 4 games no bye with 202 for, 10 against. Looking forward to those big guys clashing. WOOP!

Hey WD

See we have just signed a young fella for the NYC from your sons club the Joondalup Giants

Samuel Defiddes ?? Any wraps mate ??

Well, the club is pretty proud of him Happy. I'm not too familiar with him as we're only pretty new there really. But we're all sending positive vibes for a solid year ahead. WA needs a few more guys to become known within the game for it to grow over here. Lets hope he can really grow into a solid centre. Not that we need centres….man, we've got bucket loads of them right?

On a day like today (41 degrees in western Sydney) I cant believe Im off to watch some SG Ball trials….I cant imagine playing footy in this heat (although I probably did at some point)

Hope no one collapses or anything

Wondering how that went Goose. The heat must have been unbearable.

Was horrible just watching!! The rain came after a while, but the conditions were unbearable, making the footy pretty average to be honest.
Understandably they were running blokes on and off pretty frequently but it was have been hell for the players! It was horrible as a spectator!

I spent a day in extreme Heat and humidity at the qld Oztag junior Chanpionships
A week ago ( couldn't get there for the full weekend) and while the heat was bad, the humidity was a killer
It was like wearing a wet dressing gown all day. How the kids involved handled it so well , was amazing.
Have to give the organisers a big wrap on how it was run. The organisation was first rate. I've been involved in so many club and State Carnivals of both Rugby league , Union and Netball over the years and haven't seen a better run Carnival .
It had a real fun atmosphere( despite the heat and Humidity)
And there was some brilliant games.
It did however, produce one dilemma for me as a staunch avoider of anything maroon.
My Grandson was selected in the Qld under tens teams couple of days later.
Despite the fact that he too is a full Blues supporter.
He'l survive the experience, as he was completely ecstatic about making the team.
Not sure about his Grandad though( although I was probably as excited for him as he was), but somehow I've got to get my head around things like one word cheers, like
Quuueeeennslaaaannndddeeer. Ifs even hard to write it, let alone yell it out.

I've told him though, that I willbe cheering just as noisily and obnoxiously as ever, for his Qld team at the National Carnival in June . So now at least he'll now know just how much myself and his Father love him.
One good thing is that the National Carnival is in NSW. So even though he'll be maroon on the outside. He'll be breathing in nice healthy Blues air.

Seriously, Its So pleasing to see so many young kids having such a great time and being so involved in sport.
We are extremely lucky to live somewhere where our kids and grandkids can have such a good time through sport
And also lucky to have so many people such as the people who will give up their time to make these carnivals (. In all sports ) a big sucess.

Oztag was a new sport when i stopped playing footy, and I never really enjoyed it.

But anytime I hear anyone talk about the professionalism of the tournaments and so forth it is always first rate, seems like a well run sport.

Congrats to the young fella on making a big rep team, it is important to make a big deal about these things, even if he does nothing again in sport to represent "your" state is an amazing acomplishment. (even if it is someone elses state)

I feel your pain mate. Having to represent QLD must be just plain awful. But having to cheer for them, well, that just goes too far.
Congratulations to the young bloke.
Hope he has a great time.

GCT,well done Gramps, hope the young bloke excels at his sport and anything else he participates in….It is always pleasing to see the little ones do well at whatever they get involved in...Iam involved in the junior golf program we have here at my work at the golf pro shop..we had a little tacker about 7 yrs old and all he wanted to do was belt the skin off a golf ball,so I got a couple of old golf clubs that we had donated to us and cut them down to his size and regripped them for him,he is a regular now and gets free tuition from our teaching pro,his mum told me that all he does is rave about the clubs that TT made for him...

Hope this young fella remembers you blokes when he wins all the Grand Slam in the single year and then wins the FedEx Cup

Yes its wonderful to see kids involved with sport and enjoying it ( no matter how crazy it gets taking them to 3 different sports in an afternoon )

Massive news at the young fellas club , the young girl I spoke about earlier in this thread has joined our club

Which means they will have probably 3 of the best props in their comp playing in the one side

Our club is useless when it comes to
Re-registering players ,they make it so difficult !
Hobbo Jnr has kept the 10 jersey for the season so he's stoked !
I slotted 3/5 from 35 out and 10 in from the sideline . My Quad is knackered
Hobbo will be hobbling tomorrow !
Nothing better than a sausage sanger ( with bacon and gravy ) :sunglasses:
When it comes to the BBQs I'm a seasoned Pro , you know which away grounds to avoid the BBQs
:roll

Question : at what age do the Girks stop playing in the boys comps ??
Cheers !
