Kids school reports

I have my flag and Premiers scarf hanging in my room (well, not at the moment because the painters are in there).

I have Kinder this year for the first time. It's been a massive eye-opener.

Reports were a bit more difficult for the littlies I found… not sure why.

My boss wanted me to put lots of 'warm fuzzies' in... he reckons this year (kinder) is the only year you can get away with it!

Yeah well I'd like to thank the teachers for putting the effort in to do these reports. My child isn't one to tell me much about what's going on at school, and work commiitments mean I can't go into the class very often. So it's great to get a snapshot on how they are developing - it's eye opening too, the things I think she likes/tries in and the things she actually likes and tries in. Of courseI read the general comment the most but thanks for the rest too.

yup, well said.. teaching imo is the most underrated "job" ever. tbh no offence to all the teachers out there but if it wasn't paid so low, i would be doing teaching. i love explaining things to my friends and personally, education is wealth imo. the more you educate someone about ANYTHING, it makes you feel a little prouder yourself.

im on a high atm after finishing my hsc last year.. some teachers though are absolutely ridiculous who have no sense of passion for the occupation.

good job teachers

Prmz you mention about teachers passion

I think that the passion is knocked out of them by the system and how teachers are treated by students ,parents (My little Johnny couldn't do a thing wrong ) or by the bad pay or lack of protection offered by the system

Knocked out of a few HT, but I teach at a school where almost every teacher puts extra effort into providing a rich education for the students. Lack of protection is just about to start with "LocalSchools, Local Decisions".

Agree, tigergirlz. This LS,LD stuff is very scary. Teacher job security aside, the children are the ones who are going to face the full front of this decision. Probably OK if you're a kid who trundles along OK and doesn't need any support at all, but Heaven help you if you don't. I guess there will be more opportunity for those of us who are "temporary teachers" to make some money as tutors, because all the support programmes in school will be gone. I understand that one high school out this way is a pilot school, and they are out of funding for casual staff (and we're only halfway through winter), so for more than half of the year, if a teacher is away, these kids will not have a replacement teacher to deliver lessons. How much wasted learning time is that?

quite pleased with both my sons reports.
oldest is in year 10, and has just completed two weeks of work experience at a local primary school.
he thoroughly enjoyed it, and was very surprised when the kids in the class he with gave him a card with all their signatures on it. etc.
youngest one in year 7 and going well.
obviously they got their academic knowledge/ artistic ability from their grandparents and mother. lol

Love getting the school reports and it's obvious the effort that goes into them from the teachers. I think the comments by the teacher is the best part, it gives a true reflection as to what your child is like as a person in class and in the school. You can never underestimate the power of a enthusiastic, committed teacher can have over a kid. We're lucky at the moment where my 7 yr old little girl and 11 year old fella both have teachers they adore and after parent teacher meeting the other night I can see one of the reasons why with the young bloke !
