Kikau no try

It was a try 100%.

I was shocked the ref didn't check it at the time, he seemed pretty confident in what he thought he saw and just quickly moved on and it was forgotten about.

Really bad blunder, refs have to check that stuff.

100% double movement. It's a funny thing footy, how people can see polar opposites.

But I see - Kikau hits the ground with Mbye over the top and Farah holding the leg. That's a tackle. His momentum brings him to the line but he only gets his arm over the line by extending it. The arm carrying the ball has already hit the ground when Mbye drove into him.

That can only be a double-movement in my book. You are not allowed to extend the arm once it has made contact with the ground and the tackler has retained contact, and both those things happen.

Now the Mansour try - that one I cannot explain, I couldn't see any concrete evidence of his foot touching the line vs on-field call of try.

Nope. The only part of Kikau that touches the line is his haircut and the tip of the ball. None of the Tigers tacklers cross the line at all![Screenshot_20190409-212953_NRL|690x335](upload://sfktLwuR7WxJNAjUOIlF44QFBku.jpeg)

Yeah, but what is stopping the officials and others posting above from seeing the obvious, as the angles were not obstructed. Once the ball or the arm cradling it touches the ground with even a fingertip of a defender on them, that is it as far as any promotion of the ball goes, whether a pass or extending a limb. They are not even allowed to straighten the body or arch the back to get the ball over the line.

In my opinion they should not even be allowed to try to ground the ball in that situation as that in itself is promoting the ball!

Plenty of momentum there… He hits the ground short and they all end up on the line… He’s never stopped until he plants the ball… He doesn’t promote the ball… Take off the orange goggles off

Planting the ball is promoting the ball, once your elobow hits the ground you are not allowed to promote the ball!

I would have been happy either way. I first thought it was a try. Upon replay I thought maybe not. Could have gone either way, it certainly wasn’t clear cut.

He’s in goal… and he’s still moving/momentum… Thus the difference

That doesn't matter, after the elbow hits the ground you are not allowed to promote the ball, even if you have momentum. Momentum can carry over the line but you are not allowed to promote the ball and he clearly did so!

Garbage!
We see it every week players in goal struggling to ground the ball… He didn't 'promote' the ball... He fought to ground it

He didn't fight to ground the ball, his elbow hits the ground about a metre before the line and he moves his arm forward and then reaches out to ground the ball. The only part of him over the line is the top of his head!

He doesn't move his arm forward…. He doesn't reach out... He is still moving despite annesly freezing the vid.
You're clutching... It's no double movement.
Why would the NRL even bother with all this if it were?

His arm moves forward, when his elbow hits the ground the ball is tucked in and about chest height on his body, when he grounds the ball it his then at head height, he has moved his arm forward or the ball doesn't end up in that position. He then extends his arm to the side to ground it, without that intentionally 2nd movement after his elbow hit the ground then the ball remains does not touch the line!
