Sack the coach

Eggshell club

Did they get booed at half time?

We thought we sucked eggs ?
Knights are beyond a basket case
There coach interviews like a recovering alcoholic ?

minus the recovering part. Wasn't he acting like a pork chop on the sauce at the races just before the season?

I vaguely remember something along those lines ?

Yea threw a punch at some punter in the toilet. Obviously a disgruntled knights fan.

I think last year every team we beat has since had a change of coach 😂

We should be called the coach killers

no pun intended, but wonder how doe's Madge shape up with disgruntled punters in the dunnies

Simple very few Knights juniors in a rugby league mad town that care about the jersey. They bought all their stars and apart from Ponga all were veterans. It’s a lesson maybe you get to the finals but ultimately salary cap dramas and mediocrity.

A side where injuries have caused issues to their spine a contributing factor in there decline this season.

Yep I wouldnt get too excited about the win against the Knights

On the back of two losses to us, the Knights are addressing years of mediocrity with a full top to bottom review, no individual is safe. Discuss.

Come back to me after 10 years of mediocrity

Incorrect. We beat ourselves every second week and Madge is still standing.... for now

100% right decision.

Looking at the knights they have a roster far better then ours. Pearce, Ponga, Klemmer Frizzle, Saififi...

They should be in a clear top 6 position and have been touted as a Top 4 team. Thats why Nathan Brown was sacked.

What Annoys me is we dont do the same. We always say "were Rebuilding" but we just Putty up our roster.

If were going to rebuild, then Rebuild. Aim for 2-3 years away and have a super strong team.

I dont get why, Parra has Rebuilt far better then the Knights. Yet Parra has recruited poorer players, had way more Board Chaos and done better developing their own. We need to ask why 3rd rate players perform at Melbourne, Parra, Manly, etc and not here.

spot on . No excuses for Newcastle. The forward pack they have is actually top 4 material .
I think he parra and manly examples are good . Both those teams had a few quality players (not necessarily many, but a few ). They identified what they needed and bought accordingly . Newcastle under brown , yes he identified what positions were weak but I don’t think he bought players to compliment each other , he got desperate and bought anyone that was available. similar to what the dogs have done so far under Barrett, Cleary did at the tigers too.
Really is about talent identification .

Also Newcastle seem currently to be effected by the storm assistant nant syndrome, where clubs think if they were an assistant under Bellamy they must be good . Bellamy system works because it is him and him only (just like there is only one Bennett and Robinson ) and the difference between bellamy and his clones ( I include McGuire into this ), is that he adapts the style year on year whilst his assistants that are head coaches try use that one style they learnt under him forever .

Just on last point parra off-field got fixed up due to Greenberg getting administrators called in and they seem to have sorted there board chaos.

Of course there is a review getting beaten twice by a side that beats itself ever other week is an embarrassment that's were it hurts !

We're the benchmark for measuring mediocrity at other clubs.

Sounds like one of their managers has too much time on their hands.

Things should be reviewed every day for ways to improve.

Gus carried out a major review at Penrith, put some structures in place and then played the patient game and now there’s fruit everywhere. I think we are at that point myself.

I would be pretty certain a review has been done prior to this. With the evidence being in recruitment in juniors and koe cup.

I’m not as confident as the forum is on all these young guys being future guns. Making junior rep side’s doesn’t make you an NRL footballer, learning from the best does.

A top heavy team. I reckon most of their cap is tied up in just a few players and they really have no backs, besides Ponga, that are first-graders. Brailey will be good but he's still young and they've gotten very little out of their depth players.

I think the main problem for Newcastle is putting all their eggs in one basket, so to speak. Fair enough you can go out and splash a mill on Ponga or Pearce, but if they are out, what remains to put on the field?

At the very least Roosters, they have the foundation of the team already figured out before they add stars to the mix. You can see this how they handle their injury toll, even the 2nd- or 3rd-stringers know how to run, tackle and hold the football, as the basics. They've stopped being a pretty football side but they can still score and defend and win.

I also don't think you can just chopper-in "good" footballers into a new system and expect it to all gel, just because you recognise the names on the team sheet.

Newcastle don't know what to do without Ponga, despite having some top-level props and an overall decent pack. Manly have the same issue with Turbo, for as long as he is present they are a threat. But that's not the smart makings of a premiership campaign, having all investment in a handful of players.
