Knights team

Ponga, Pearce & Fitzgibbon. The three to watch. Limit their opportunities and it will make our job a lot easier.

I actually like Fitzgibbon. Plays tough and aggressive. Good for a couple of brain snaps tho.

So do I; he's one really good footballer, tough and his skills are developing nicely. He'd fit our culture perfectly but seems pretty happy at the Knights.

Over last three years we expected to beat them (they were favorites for the wooden spoon), we didn't win too many of them.

Do not take them lightly - have to hit them with the same intensity as the teams we have already played.

Go! you Mighty Tigers!!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaagh!!!

That is my concern too, we have struggled against far weaker knights teams in the past, but we are a far superior team this year, so we should win, I am driving 5 hours to watch this game, and 5 hours back, so we better win.

That's a bit of commitment right there. Hope they do it for us.

I think we will win but I am worried about our horrible record against Mitchell Pearce.

He always seems to score and win against us.

Anyway as we have seen 2018 might be different.

To be honest, looking at that Knights pack I am very confident about how we line up against them. Really should be another 2 points if we bring the same attitude to the game.

Knights are decent in attack but if we play for the 80 mins with the same intensity I see no other outcome but another 2 points.

yep - you don't need to be off your game by much to get a beating in the NRL.
Should be close.
Quietly confident.

This week and next week are danger games for us. The expectation will be for us to dust Newcastle and Parramatta. We've had huge character tests in the first 5 weeks against the top sides and I think we're going to have one of a different type against the lower sides.
If we turn up with the same attitude we have done all year, we should be fine. Looking at the responses from most posters we're all taking time to adjust to the competitive nature of the side this year.

The few injuries we've had could be a positive thing for the side as a whole. Guys like Eisenhuth, Aloiai, Sue and Chee-Kam will be fighting to hold onto their positions.

The next 2 weeks will be vital to the rest of the season as it could set us up with a decent gap between the lower half of the comp leading into origin.

Last year the knights were chest beating before the.game dubbing it the battle for.thensppon and the occasion got to them. Played there worst game all year and we trounced them.

This year they are trying to claim tamworth for their own. Chest beating.

Lets embarass them.

Tigers need to make a statement here. Foot on the throat stuff.

I rate Ponga highly but that goose step of his has a touch of the Blake Austin dummy about it…

Ponga has become so predictable in going to the outside after the jink and trying to set up players especially fitzgibben. We have a rushing defence so itl take that out of play hopefully. Must watch out for Levi when he comes on though. Quick runs around our ruck need to be stopped.

We game plan well under Cleary. We will contain him like Tedesco, Slater and Turbo. We have a disciplined defence that can frustrate teams. Watch for Pearce to be rattled performs poorly under pressure.

Looking forward to seeing our defence against another much improved side. As big a challenge as any this year, but most weeks will be tough on 2018.

I want to see how we go against Ponga in particular with him chiming in on an edge.

Yes I agree on this point Eddie, he wouldn’t have lost to us much if at all during his career. I thought last week was going to be tough but this week could also be that. However if we continue our form we should account for this mob.

Mitch is playing against a vastly different squad from years gone by.

The Newcastle side have some flair and play on enthusiasm. They are not afraid to chance their arm and will do so. As countless others have said, we have to turn up mentally again and attempt to strangle them like we have all the other victims. Good line speed, tackling in numbers and mistake free football, together with a sensible kicking game should do it for us.
