Know the Rules??

I know its only a minor thing but its something we have done that many times this season it annoys the crap out of me…

Every time we get a penalty near the opposition line, Farah ALWAYS kicks it back 10-15m to give the team space...

Surely as a first grade footballer he would know that u do not need to kick the ball back as you can take the ball back as far as u want to take the tap and the defensive line cannot move off the original mark, whereas if you kick it out and take the tap they are allowed to have their defensive line 10m from where the ball went into touch.

Surely the advantage of having a defensive line 15-20m away as opposed to 10 would allow us to execute our set peices much more effectively.

It happened twice last night and would have happened a 3rd time had the ref not said to farah "take it back as far as you want Robbie".

These dumb plays show that we do not think on the football field..

Their sets are always practised at training from 20m in…..thats where the taps taken when you kick for touch.

Are these the sets where after a tap kick one player hits the ball up - and if he is lucky gets back to where the original penalty was awarded - which is what we usually do.

It is just crazy play and not just because it is unnecessary. We regularly gift the opposition about 30 to 40 seconds recovery time during this process.

Yeh theyre the ones!

As the commentators often say during games re: halves…..its all very automatic these days, very very structured and rehearsed and players dont have a look and play whats in front of them...they do what they practice 24/7 regardless

I agree this annoyed me know end last night as it was just stupid and possibly cost us a try when you think about it as both sets were on their line and could have been much better

Apart from what's mentioned above re😛racticed/rehearsed, the only other thing I could come up with is it takes longer to reset, allowing the players a short breather. Maybe this is the point of kicking for touch.

Don't get me wrong though, I was screaming and cursing "WTF you doing that for?"

I wonder if last night in particular he was doing so he could explain to Lui and Miller what he was trying to set up for (say a particular play for instance) I think I would of much rathered we played on quickly and tried to tire their big men out But Robbies the captain and you chief playmaker with Benji out he made the call and no luck Thats Football . Sometimes you go bobbin and get a rotten apple 'next time he might get a diamond

im glad im not the only one who found that annoying. it was doin my head in

Totally agree. It's ridiculous!! On one occasion it took us 3 plays to get back to the spot where the penalty was originally awarded. What a waste!!!
