KOE NSW Cup Team List: Round 3 v Raiders

What a load of crap. You really don't know what you're talking about.

We have the biggest injury crisis in the NRL, with the weakest NRL roster in the first place. So our NSW cup is missing 7-8 players, and is the youngest squad in the comp.

We've been top 2 in NSW cup for the past few years, putting up big wins in the prices, and what good has that done us? Only one player has been promoted, Tuilagi. Results in NSW cup count for nothing. We get a few players back and suddenly go on run. The whole point of reserve grade is to develop players for the NRL. We've done well with nobodies that won't play first grade, but it's better to develop youngsters against men in NSW than pick older, experienced plodders just to win.

And you do realise that Mounties, Canberra are traditionally power houses in lower grades, along with us and Penrith.
I tend to agree.

Our jersey flegg team last year could quite possibly have gone undefeated the entire season if it wasn't cancelled. They were a talented bunch, and while some are struggling to adapt to NSW cup level, they will come good with experience. The club is in the midst of a terrible injury crisis which has left the young guys in NSW cup without more experienced players to guide them.

While I loved watching the Wests NSW cup team last year, truth be told, many of the players were never going to cut it at first grade level, such as Cooper, Docker Clay, Cini, Freebairn, Hoffman and Pauga. Sensibly, the club has released most of them, along with Walters and Leilua. Those who stayed were either promoted to first grade, ie Simpkin, Stefano, Tuilagi and Madden, or were retained because they are future prospects, ie taipari and Dias.

The NSW cup team may well struggle this year, but I'm excited to see the likes of Stefanovic, Rua and Dillon playing up a grade. It's a shame that Scolari, Webster Mansfield and tumeth will miss all/a large part of the season, because all three are also good prospects.

Is Rua Ngatikaura as good as Liddle or Simpkins at hooker/dummy-half .. ?? He certainly nuggety enough to half a crack at it .. he reminds of "The Cheese" having a dive for the line from dummy-half .. !! What's his defence like .. ??

Um sure that logic works if the backline players replacing him are nrl squad memebers…

You don’t demote a player to RMC if we have high hopes for them. Especially when our grades are struggling.

With our injuries we could seek roster approval for x games to include someone outside the 30 to cover until y players return.

Playing RMC is a demotion.
No, we couldn't ask for an exemption yet. We still have 2 fit fullbacks in our top 30.

That’s your opinion Balmain boy, and your entitled to it. I disagree and think we are in for a few more tough years until we really sought out what we are doing off the park. I’m not concerned about the supposed first grade players that are injured, it’s what’s happening off the park and the people involved I think that are the big concern.
Well i think your opinion is naive, ill informed and just plain garbage. Your post was only worried about results, not development. I clearly pointed out that there is not necessarily a correlation between winning and developing players in nsw cup.
I think this year's nsw cup team is head and shoulders better than last year's team. Most players picked have the potential to be decent nrl players, unlike last year. This is a much needed shift within the organisation. Of course if they had those extra 7 first graders coming back to this grade they'd all look that much better with the additional quality around them.

One big correction Mr Mac dropped dillon not lambkin.
Why would Warren have any control over team selections. He's a recruitment guy, not a coach. The only staff members that should have ANY say over NSW cup team selections are Madge and Sheens, and the NSW Cup coach, currently Lambkin. Anyone else that wants a say can get stuffed, and should be told as much by the club.

I dont think its that ill informed , i would go as far to say its pretty correct, but i like to read your point of views on different topics balmain boy, i agree with a lot of what you have to say, but on this occasion, i dont agree with you. Would it fair to say the information i put on here is accurate, id say so.

I think you and Sly are down the middle on this one.
He wouldn't pick the squads of course but give a directive to those that do on player future at the club which then drives a selection activity. I doubt it would be as direct as Sly comments (as in he selects the team) but I get what he saying and do think Warren has some sway in which lower tier players get a run in which division.

I can't really say whether Rua is as good as Simpkins or Liddle but what I can say, having watched him quite regularly the past year or so (2020 was a write off due to Covid), he has the makings of an excellent NRL footballer. Tough, good defence and gives 100% every time. He didn't win the JF Player of The Year for nothing in a very strong side - a real leader. I wish him well because he deserves it.
