30 - 26. Kautoga, O'Kane both ommitted an hour before kickoff unfortunately. Was keen to see both play. Peni and Ma'anaima both also ruled out. Unsure if illness/injury struck. Perry played 2nd row and had some terrible misses in defence.

Pole was the only standout. Dias, Stapleton, Sykes? (14) played hard but made no impact.

Nu Brown has some pace, looks like a slightly better version of Pauga.

Well it was great to see the boys win that one.
Defence is the issue and it’s a very young group still working out who they are playing with and how.
But not bad effort 7/10.

Anyone heard anything what has happened with Iverson Fautimau who was apparently carving it up in pre-season training, had a couple of rounds of NSW Cup, then hasn't been seen since. Assume injured but haven't seen nor heard an update?

Was surprising to see junior Tupou has a good pass on him.

Man can see he has the attributes to be anything.

I don't think Tupou is a fullback - his defence and positioning is suspect. He has great hands can draw the defence and throws a nice pass. He is quite quick and elusive when running the ball. I would like to see him at 5/8.

I don't think he is a fullback either. Body shape is perfect for a winger.
He needs to work on his work effort plays & man to man mark up he could be really valuable on the edges, I suspect this is why he is playing fullback atm. The kid does have that something extra it's just a case of if he can go to the next few levels.

Will just come down to how bad he wants it. If he has the commitment to put his body on the line and willing do some of the tough stuff in attack and defense he has a good chance of making it. Hopefully that comes over the next year or so with age and as his body develops (another off season will be handy). A few earlier games he seemed to try and avoid the contact.

Definetly like a shorter talakai almost

Madden steered them around perfectly and the attacking formations looked great

Errors were applenty for both sides tho

He definitely looks to be improving. Not convinced yet he has NRL “toughness” yet and seems more athlete than footballer, but it’s early days in his 3 year contract so we’ll see.

He was being written off by some on this forum. I'm glad he is adjusting back to RL. He looks to be the skillful rugby inside centre type.
