Kony 2012

Anybody else heard about this social justice campaign sweeping the Internet?

Here is a video explaining what it is all about
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4MnpzG5Sqc

Just checking out the vid now actually, it's doing the rounds big time. It's about the leader of a Ugandan guerilla group wanting to impose a theocracy on Uganda

Been having a great day trolling scene kids on Facebook over this.

I agree with it in principle, but their little social experiment is going to have an extremely negligible impact in Uganda. Could even make his organisation MORE violent.

Who wants a theocracy in 2012\. That's only like the third tier religious civic in CivIV! They need to go with Pacifism or Free Religion or their people will revolt when they see other nations implement these.

Disgraceful attitude guys. Negativity never gets anyone anywhere.

It's honestly disturbing that people still try to cut down ideas like this - it helps no one. maybe it makes yourselves feel better when you put your feet back up on the couch.

I'm glad there are people out there trying to make the world a better place!! Thanks for sharing Sabre, I'm going to see how I can help.

I find it pretty ordinary that people love to take a "more intelligent/supreme/awesomenesslevel10 than thou" attitude to something like this. You can't state that it is a flawed plan and then offer no reason for it being flawed. That's helpful to no one.

You also can't go around stating that this "little" social experiment is going to have an "extremely negligible impact", when really, the positives that have already occurred from the beginning of this movement are far superior and have had a significant positive impact for those in Uganda.

QFT!

It's iraq all over again. Evil dictator killing innocent. American army trains "rebel forces". Uganda won't share it's resources so America comes back and takes what is there's…

I haven't watched it yet, but my FB is getting spammed big time with it. I already know a little of Kony and his misdeeds though so I expect I know what it will entail.

Don't underestimate the impact this will have, social networking can be a very powerful tool.

I'm tweeting #stopkony and posting on walls of politicians .

I think Australia could help in Uganda even if it is only 100 or so troops .

This guy is just the tip of the iceberg in Africa - some things that go on throughout other African nations woud make your hair curl.
Unfortunately a lot of predominently white countries (well the governments anyway) don't do anything publicly for fear of the race card being played - that they are enforcing their values on underpriviledged blacks who don't know how to run their countries or their lives.
I don't have the answer to help these people but maybe bringing the problems to more people's attention is a start.

I signed up last night… Once you watch the uTube clip, get a copy of the movie Blood Diamond to see more graphic examples of the way children live in these places.

This is a brilliant awareness campaign. Like many I knew about the attrocities in Africa but now know one of the names of the pigs causing them.

Make him famous so we can make him dead.

Noticed this morning that it's now hit mainstream media outlets as well. It was all over the Sunrise program today. Social media outlets may not be the answer but it does seem like one of the best ways to get a message out nowdays.

Once there's enough public support, the governments will start to see value in doing something about this bloke.

Great stuff… the stuff happening in Sudan and Uganda is horrific. Has been for the last 15-20yrs... yet noone seems to care :frowning:

Was very pleased when I heard about this campaign this morning, all the power to those behind it!

I dont understand why people want to get negative about this campaign. I dont mind if they arent active in supporting it but to talk down about it is very disrespectful. You cannot underestimate people power. This is potentially one of the biggest people movements of all time. It will be a historical event. You just have to look at social networks to see how big it is.
Everyone on Facebook and Twitter are talking about it and also I think the video will be the most watched video ever on Youtube

It's a great cause and I for one jumped on the bandwagon initially. However a friend of mine sent me a link with the total of where the money goes and only $0.02 actually goes to the kids per dollar donated.
