Koro in talks with storm

Koro left yesterday, Tigers have signed Bulldogs ex under 20's winger Jon Sila as a possible replacement. lol if you thought Koro was shaky in defence, wait till you see this guy!! And is not even in the same planet attack wise as Koro!! Demoted to Ron Massey at the dogs before Des said see you later.

Maybe we let Koro go because we were chasing this guy. He scored 5 tries tonight judging by what is on twitter. He looks big tall and fast so I hope it is true.

Do any of you fellow supporters think that we're owed an explanation from either potter or mayer in regards to Koroibete moving on ??
I myself would like to know more !

100% agree Hobbo

I'm sitting here waiting for Koroibete to ring me personally and give me his version of events

Then Mick Potter to ring me and explain

And then Grant Mayer to ring and explain

Hurry up Koro , I want to go to bed

I would also like to know why he was released. As we know he has speed to burn, a strong fend and runs hard. Has so much potential. I am sure the coaching staff at Melbourne Storm will bring the best out of him. Best of luck Koro, will miss seeing you in our colours.

yeh, i loved koro. but it just seems he is not in potters plans for first grade, so in the very least i am happy for him to get a go somewhere else; i think he can be awesome at nrl level - thought he was when he played for the tiges.

whenever i see the words koro and storm together, i think "marcus bai"! hope he goes well there if he does go. would love him to be in tigers colours, but as they say, you cant keep em all…

If you think Koroibete's defence is bad, wait to you see John Sila's. Does anyone remember Taqele Naiyararva scoring 4 tries in a game in NSW Cup last season? It was against the Bulldogs. Have a guess who was 'marking' him?

Does anyone close to the club know why Koro seems to be on the outer here? I thought he would've been given a chance in the top grade by now, considering his impressive form and the lack of depth in our three quarters. I'd hate to see him go to the Storm, I still really think we need him here - he could be anything!

It's not like Koro hasn't had chances. He debuted in first grade two years ago, played some games in 2013 when uninjured and was in the starting side this season and dropped after an appalling performance against the Dragons. Marika looked the goods in that one game against Parra in 2012, but that wasn't exactly a first grade opposition. After three seasons, you have to ask whether he's going to come good, or should go to a club who can burn cap space on potential.

All the people on here saying he is some great loss have no idea. I have watched a fair few state cup games this year, and yes Koro is very quick, runs hard when taking the ball up and has a good fend and scores a try or two a game, BUT and it is a big BUT he cannot defend and has not shown any improvement through out the year.

Yeah he might score try after try but he shore lets in try after try as well. The first grade teams defence is up and down as it is and the last thing we need is another player who has no idea about defence and is absolutely rubbish under the high ball.

Yeah koro has all the potential in the world, and I admit that but last time i checked potential only gets you so far and the game of rugby league has two main aspects thats attack and DEFENCE. The latter one being the foundation for any successful team!

And Setefano Taukafa the number five for the tigers state cup team had a reasonable game today and looks are far better prospect being solid in attack and defence.

Looks like Tauakafa will be the backup wing option now. He's training with the fultime squad and looks a reasonable prospect considering he took a couple of years off.

Wests Tigers Release Marika Koroibete

Mon 23rd June, 12:59PM

Wests Tigers have today released winger Marika Koroibete immediately to join the Melbourne Storm.

Koroibete will take up an opportunity with the Storm for the remainder of this year through until the end of the 2016 season.

The 21-year-old has played at total of 16 NRL matches for Wests Tigers since making his debut in Round 21 of the 2012 season.

“I’m happy that Marika has his future sorted,” Wests Tigers Head Coach Mick Potter said. “I am sad to see him go but he has been presented with an opportunity to secure a position in first grade at Melbourne.

“It has been tough this year for Marika with limited opportunities here behind current wingers Pat Richards and David Nofoaluma.

“Obviously we would like to keep all players but unfortunately salary cap constraints make this impossible,” he said. “I wish Marika all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for everything that he has done here at the Wests Tigers.”
