L Brooks

First game was still his best, but he is improving. The thing is, improvement might be too slow to hold his spot, especially if he bludgers through another offseason.

Hes getting more involved but he's still not that good. Cleary has his work cut out but he won't persevere that long.

What's with him not kicking on the last when we're attacking the line?
I've watched him closely this back half of the year and he's deliberately avoiding kicking the ball in this area, surely it can't be a ploy to just run it on the last everytime.
Never thought I'd say this but I'd be happy with Benji at 7 next year, he's played better than Brooks this year.

I think he got the only repeat set ..kicking on the last..

Line Break 2 TRY assist ..One from a smart kick for Kev..a nice long pass to Lolohea when they ran it on the 5th for Marsters to score..Found touch late in the game to try and close it out..made a difference..

Yeh but we didn't win 50+. No mad Monday for Luke…

Come on, his 5th tackle options are woeful.
I admit he tries hard to direct play but he just gives too many hospital passes.
I thing we are much more threatening when Tui gets the ball on the last.

That's a worry,. Tui's hit rate of hitting his target in the chest would be lower than his kicking percentage.

Directed the team well tonight. Ran often enough. Two try assists and a line break. I'd settle for that every week.

This is endemic as a tigers fan. We settle.

Wow what a ridiculous comment. why wouldnt we settle for those stats leading to a convincing win??

Brooks was very good tonight. He is organising a lot better. He confidently demands the ball. Him and Tui work seemlessly together. Very good signs.

His defence has come along leaps and bounds.

Thought Brooks was good tonight. He is better and more confident when he runs the ball and straightens the attack up.
I reckon he could be really dangerous near the line with that acceleration and step which would see him score more tries. I also thought his defence was really good tonight. He is not rushing out anymore which was his biggest issue and now is holding his line and waiting for his inside man to cover. Brooks can defend when he is concentrating but more times than not he was rushing up on no one or just over-reading the attack.
Having a strong inside defender will always build confidence. Moses, for example, is much more confident in defence with the players around him (although still a very ordinary defender 1-1).
I think Brooks will have a great year next year, just needs to be confident in what he is doing and also improve his kicking game.

I thought he was okay tonight and would, overall get a six and a half out of ten from me. Out last tackle options are still weak and he has to take some responsibility for that.

I agree. When he demanded the ball the Tigers looked dangerous which he could do a little bit more in my opinion. That chip kick for Naiqama was great, be nice if he could add the floating bomb to his arsenal in the off season. With a little more self belief he can get better and better which is something Benji will be able to help with. Benji will impart his experience on him, i can really see next year being a break out season for Brooks.

Much like my fellow commentators, I felt Luke played well tonight. Particularly in defence, he showed starch - and the two driving tackles on bunty afoa on the short sides particularly.

Should be 1 heck of an off season under Ivan.

Oh please. You thought he played well? If you are going to look at his stat line in isolation then yes, you would believe that it isn't settling. Sadly, the warriors were atrocious and Brooks had many many more opportunities to put his stamp on the game to put the game to bed.
I think his game was average at best, and if you are happy with that after three years of dire mediocrity then yes, you are settling.

Ivan should be calling brooks in for a debrief this week. It would go something like this…..there are no guarantees next season. You need to have a career off season and start leading through your actions. Go and enjoy yourself but come back ready to go in every aspect.
