Saying the Dogs will make a play for Galvin is like saying water is wet. Of course they will. He’ll have no less than 6 or 7 clubs keen. Roosters, Dogs, Souths, Saints and Parra, pending Dylbags.

Not up to channel nine to have gonads?Absolute conflict of interest.
If Channel Nein had any balls theyd step in and terminate him.
A 10 year deal on massive 5/8 money that's just talking out your arse what club would be stupid enough to offer that, in 5 years he could fill out to the size of a bus, thank god dumb & dumber are gone it may have been possible.I hate how the host mentioned tigers should offer Galvin a 10 year deal and he didn’t respond then goes onto say who ever Galvin is playing for will win premierships
I would have thought the NRL would jump at the opportunity to remove him considering how he describes the administration and refereeing. He has gone a long way towards convincing a large section of the fanbase that the NRL refs are fully corrupt and/or incompetent.Funny how the NRL wouldn't let Laurie Daley do any work for us and he also had to pass up other opportunities which no doubt cost him financially not to mention possible reputational damage because of his supposed conflicts of interest with his gambling connections.
I have to agree that you have to keep any perception of corruption due to gambling well away from the game, it is in no way a good look, but somehow it's OK for Gus to say or do whatever he likes and the NRL look the other way pretending there is no conflict of interest.
Weak or corrupt, make up your own mind.
Agree 100%. He also goes out of his way to praise players on tv that he is targeting for recruitment. It's absolutely astounding the position he is in to benefit the DogsI would have thought the NRL would jump at the opportunity to remove him considering how he describes the administration and refereeing. He does this during prime time free to air coverage. He also attacks the admin about how the game is run, whilst feathering his own nest.
He has convinced everyone that he is an authority on the game to the point that it affects the recruitment negotiations he enters into as a part of his other roles.
It is the very definition of conflict of interest.
Yes but so far has it worked? 'Pulled out' of Ben Hunt, Luai, Terrell, Fifita, Stefano and others I'm sure. Doesn't seem to be working out for old Gussy boy. So far Richo has landed basically all targets while Gus has 'pulled out of' (missed and leaked that to the media to save face) most targets.Agree 100%. I understand he hasn't landed every body he has gone after. That doesn't change the points being made.Yes but so far has it worked? I don't know. He is paid for an opinion and he gives it. People can come out and refute it if they want.Funny how the NRL wouldn't let Laurie Daley do any work for us and he also had to pass up other opportunities which no doubt cost him financially not to mention possible reputational damage because of his supposed conflicts of interest with his gambling connections.

The problem is that 9 have built him up over the past 2 decades to be the oracle of the game. Everyone on the Tele with him is a yes man. Teenage players and their families have grown up with him being presented as THE expert on all things Rugby League.I don't know. He is paid for an opinion and he gives it. Any player, coach or club administrator can go on tv, talk to the papers, start a podcast, youtube channel etc. if they want to. It's not like the rules are different for Gus vs anyone else.
Like I said. Nothing stopping anyone from going out and exposing him if that's how they feel about it.The problem is that 9 have built him up over the past 2 decades to be the oracle of the game. He is an ex player, an ex coach and an administrator therefore knows what he’s on about….
The problem is, his playing days were during a time when training meant 5 laps around the oval, a half hour of kicking field goals followed by a dozen frothies down the pub. His coaching days were outside of the modern era and he has steadfastly refused any gigs within it. He also takes far too much credit for the successes of Penrith especially, NSW Origin and the Roosters.
He has a lot of people fooled.
The NRL should step forth and advise it is either the Canterbury job or the commentating, not both. The problem is that 9 have built him up over the past 2 decades to be the oracle of the game. In any case, this was about conflict of interest. I don't really see the conflict. Any coach can spew their opinion on the game during the press conference or they have a forum to express concerns directly to the NRL. Gould has more access to the masses through media, but players and coaches get air time on Fox all the time. If you don't have people involved in the game making commentary, then you have a bunch of guys who aren't involved making comment on guys that are involved. That wouldn't be great either.
Assume they take your view and ban Gould. Who should take his place? A Dan Ginnane type? Ex player? Journo? It's easy to complain, but what is your solution?Yes there is.
He is being backed by the broadcaster and the games administration are not objecting to it. What chance does anyone else have when he is getting a free ride weekly with legends of the game pumping his tyres?
As for the conflict of interest, he has been sold to the Rugby League world as an extremely successful authority on the game. He uses this narrative along with his connections, also supplied by his job at 9 to aid him in recruitment for whatever club he works at.
He also uses his access to the free tv audience in a 2 hour weekly broadcast to push for rule changes or interpretations that will affect his club positively.
Hey WizI am happy we have both and I am looking forward to watching them both play this season.
In my opinion, Latu is a more dynamic runner and his passing game is at least as good as Galvin’s (Latu has very quick hands). Thus he poses a pass and run threat. Galvin is slower and his height and weight make him much less a running threat. Defensively, Latu is better hands down. Plus there is a decent possibility Galvin will need to transfer to the back row in a few years.
Someone else said it here that the elephant in the room is that Galvin is blocking Latu and I agree with it. Latu was the higher rated junior and it was only because of his hamstring last year that Galvin got his foot in the door.
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
