OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

He definitely made the right decision. Bulldogs might be playing him in the halves at the moment but they have every intention to turn him into the best ball playing lock in the game. That’s what the Bulldogs script is for him but they will give him time to grow into that spot. I’m sure with us keen to have Latu in the side as well that was our long term hope as well but we just couldn’t sell the vision as well as the bulldogs have. He will be an x-factor for them this year. Though next week he might be playing in the halves alongside Sexton as Burton has been named at 18th man for NSW so who knows.
With Stefano also being slotted straight into the NSW side unfortunately it is still highlighting that the Tigers are not a desirable location for a young star to grow.

Its not yet...
But it will be..

You talking about Wests or Canterbury ?
It’s in reply to us apparently magically shaking off our tag of being an undesirable destination, due to things like it being almost impossible to play Origin at our club. This has been an issue for 25 years. We have the lowest Origin turnout outside of the Warriors. Yet somehow that’s going to suddenly change. I can’t see it happening personally. Just being realistic. This club has a stench a mile long. Untouchables.

I feel the Club isn't perceived as a "high performing centre" like many other teams.

I feel we get individual coming here for their own selfish reasons, trying to do their own things.

At the end, any team is an accumulation of individuals, but I don't see them all working together.

I don't see a good shape, I don't see us working as a defensive unit. It's individual brilliance like To'a or Galvin doing something.

Individual players just see us as a stepping stone towards something. It's not a bad thing either. Individuals should come here with their personal goals, but they all want to "prove something" rather than just contribute to the club in the best way they can. We just seem to attract players like that.

Say what you want about Gus, but 3 years ago, he bought a bunch of utilities who bilieved in his vision and contributed to the Club first. They didn't care about how they're perceived outside of the Club and just wanted to play for their coaches and prove to them they belong in the NRL.

Just spewing some thoughts out there, no idea if it makes sense.

I think that we are starting to see that here. Call Benji out for his coaching if you want but he, along with Richo, is defeinitely building a core and culture that can potentially change the perception of the club. With Galvin out I think the playing group is more united; bring in the cattle that sees AD, Twal and Seyfath playing ressies as depth and we will have the skills and depth to be competitive.

You think?

Personally, I feel we are going for "win now" players. Players we are buying/ have bought- Bird, Hunt, both Mays, KPP, Turuva etc

Don't get me wrong. These are good players and good sgining who we can play to their strengths but to me these are players you buy when you are pushing for your team to win now. None of these guys have shown any leadership qualities, or qualities that make me think they're setting our club up for the future.

Bird and Hunt will probbably just finish their 2 years and retire/ go to Super League.

I don't know what the right decision is- it just doesn't feel like we are setting ourselves up for the future too much. Just get some wins now, will see what happens in the future later.

I still don't see how Richo can do two jobs of Head of Football and CEO.

Just feel quite pessimistic about the whole organisation.

I understand where you are coming from in realtion to the win now guys - and we defintely need them so we can drag ourselves off the bottom. To do otherwise would have us sacking coaches and being less able to recruit.

So from that point of view we definitely have one foot in the win now camp. While I think Luai, May and Taruva are all win now type purchases they are the standard/culture players changing the way we are perceived. We are now a family first club with a core of players that will push out the Birds and Hunts of the group in time.

The possible future is TDS/Haywood, The Fianu's, Mason, Laulilii(s), Bula with them then setting the standards that they have learnt from Api, Luai, Taruva and May.

There are a few other bits that I think we are missing right now though: GM of Footy, Coaching Development System and Depth are where I would be spending my coin in the short term. The independent board will start to pay dividends as the HBG anchor has been cut away.

Benji and Richo have turned the ship, which in itself is a long process. Now that the pointy bit is facing the right direction I think we can build. It is still early days.

If you are still one of the few clinging to the hope that the forum expert is right and Galvin won't have tremendous success at the Bulldogs then calm your mind and accept that he will.
Even if he doesn't he will.
You got a small taste of that on the weekend when he really didn't do much but picked up a try and the media had a collective circle jerk. That's what's on the weekly agenda.
Accept it and move on .
