OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

AHX - just as much chance of being a flop as a success. At the moment the latter is more likely. A few grand finals are no lock in, could easily be out of the league in a few years. New 6 talent comes along, slows, does not add muscle to move into forwards, keeps being a ball hog and not working well with a team. This could go either way very easily.
He'll do a Hunt and lose a Grand Final for his team, assuming he ever gets that far.

He has a way to go. The deal offered was pretty insane. Maybe the last few weeks has shattered him, not sure. He seems a bit confused and rushes moves alot (taps ball on alot), or takes too long with passes. TIming seems off. Might just be a bad patch IDK. But Tigers don't need to develop his game, as playing for Tigers is not in his plans, so probably best to move to Latu ASAP right
But then so was the one made to Stefano, fortunately for us neither of them were taken up and we were lucky to dodge another bullet.

Richo must be certain that these offers are not going to be taken up and must do it to make the players and their half wit managers look like a bunch of brain dead fools for not taking up the best deal they could possibly get.

The thing with Lachy now is I don't think he cares if we win lose or draw and that's how he is playing. He and his team have got his future mapped out elsewhere and WTs losing justifies their decision given that they think he is too good for them - taking no accountability for his own performances.
The glory look at me reaction after he scored/didn't score did it for me after what was a pretty rubbish game.
Want something for him but at this point I can see why people think the best option is to move him on.

When can we expect to hear any news out of today. How good if the 3 way trade happened and we end up with KPP and Taylan signed today.
We can dream right?

He just need to go, it's not working for the team period. He constantly kills all momentum in attack, constantly running sideways.

I sat in the second row from the sideline last night. Souths practically had the ball for the first 10 minutes straight and Galvin was in the bin for 10. In 20 minutes I watched Galvin throw 3 forward passes (only one was picked up) 4 hospital passes were the recipient already had the defence in their face, kick the ball dead for a 7 set tackle and throw the ball into Charlie Staines head .....

Someone please remind me how his good moment outway the bad .......

The relationship is toast and for the sake of the team he needs go now, I pray to God the board releases him asap.
!!!!
I think that anyone that watched the game would have made pretty much the same observations.

That is a really dangerous game to play. If those two took up their deals, what would the side look like next year?

The elite halves look they have time. Galvin looks rushed and has no fluency whenever he is under pressure. In my opinion he is zero chance or becoming a career long elite half. He will be a good player, but not a chance of being elite. We dodged a huge bullet him knocking back that ridiculous offer
Agree —-however he could come to life at another club just like Mitchell Moses only then we see what his full potential is whether he’s a pretender or an elite!

If the rest of the FG squad know he will only ever play FG again if we have major injuries then wouldn’t that work?
Unless we get something very good in return I feel that making him play out the rest of his contract in a lower grade would gain us the respect of most of the other clubs and may force the hand of the NRL do something about player managers and contracts, something that really needs sorting out on the eve of NRL expansion.

I really dont think he believes he is too good for us.
I reckon he is well aware of his flaws and inconsistencies and is frustrated that they arent being ironed out through adequate development. He has always struck me as a simple sort of kid who just loves to play footy...and become a great player.

Put yourself in his shoes for a moment. For the past 2 years, he has had everyone at the club telling him how good he is, he has been Mr Popularity as he has been classed as one of our guns who is constantly talked up by coaches and his peers publicly. He has been given free reign to play the game as he sees it, making it fun more than a chore or job. The guy takes the field bouncing like a little kid, all smiles and full of confidence. New players join the club and they start talking him up...and some of them are elite! The team is playing better than the last few years and all is positive...until it is no longer so.

The guy went from being talked up as a future Test player and a franchise winning leader to being despised in one afternoon. Fans on social media, who were so over the top with their sickly sweet sychophancy last year now want him hung from the scoreboard at Leichhardt. The club's management are angry and releasing statements and holding press conferences, your peers are taking the piss out of you publicly, the media painting you as the devil, describing you and your family in ways that arent true. Training is awkward and no one is giving you the time they were a week ago. You train, you go home. You play, you go home. I doubt the invites for socialising outside of work are on offer any more.
You are ostracised from the group you spend the most time with. If this was a normal job, youd submit your 4 weeks notice, use up your sick leave and just dissapear. Youd cop the backstabbing for a little while and then youd never see these people again. This situation is very different. His leave notice was 18 months.

It seems obvious to me that this kid is desperately upset and thats why he is playing so poorly. As I said earlier, he isnt a rocket scientist...he loves the game and it is fun to him. It no longer is that way. Now Im sure many on here will say "serves him right", "he brought it all on himself", "I hope this is really tearing him up on the inside"...etc. However, the facts are, he is contracted here for the next 43 playing weeks as well as one more preseason. He is a young 19 year old as well and that must seem like a life sentence to him. There is no good end to this saga. I think we will release him early with nothing in return. The kid is crashing and burning. Every loss is being blamed on him, every poor performance is killing his wild enthusiasm. This is fast becoming a mental health issue. When people feel they have no way out...well we know how some respond. It is a terrible situation for all, and a situation all have had a hand in creating.

I only said that because I can't imagine what Richo was thinking with those offers, just doesn't seem right to me considering the experience and knowledge he has and being the great administrator that he is purported to be.

To my way of thinking it can only be what I stated, unless Richo is in the same boat as many of the supposedly great player signings we have made in the past that turned out to be past their best use by date.

Obviously I am hoping that the later is not the case and if Galvin and his manager said forget about it and didn't even look at the offer that was supposedly on the table, how do we really know that we genuinely were offering the amount that was reported in the media and Richo was not foxing to scare likely suitors and possibly make them look like fools for not taking the offer of a life time.

I think he is on a list of blame from Benji Seyfarth and Luai also copping plenty of heat. I thought he could play on without it impacting him but you can't not be told your the best all your life without believing it somewhat. I'm not blaming a 20 year old for anything but the noise he his getting from those closest to him is not supportive of his coach or team. If they were Lachy would be fine but they have taken a course of action that is aggressive in a move to get him out of the club - unlike other players who sign a contract in advance but fulfill their contracts. I don't believe for a minute he has been bullied by anyone or that the coaching staff would allow it yet here they find themselves with Lachys management throwing damaging accusations around, and someone could have stopped that course of action if he/they wanted to.
The club is guilty of trying to build a team around a kid and were willing to invest a ridiculous amount of money to do so and somehow become the bad guys in this - not buying that. Might of been a dumb move but was always with good intentions.

I'm sure they will release him and sign May.

Nothing back for the Tigers other than room to sign May and move things around in the cap.

It's how we roll when backed into an untenable corner by Moses and his clients.

Galvin is not playing anywhere near his ability and will only tank worse as this goes in.

Happy to not have to look at him again in our jersey.

If he is allowed to walk we need a NRL standard starting 13 replacement, not money. Money is only useful if you have a player who has agreed to term and who is an adequate replacement. Finding these players is the hard, getting them to agree to terms is harder. If they are part of a package deal with Galvin’s release, than that is a good outcome for the club
