OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Teddy was a superstar at tigers already with 90 games under his belt.
Moses was above average but can’t remember him being elite when he was with us.
Galvin has had some great highlights but is still mostly potential. Elite players can turn games for even poor clubs.
Moses is probably a fair comparison but he had speed, and was a half decent goal kicker. Can’t remember how his general field kicking play was but it’s up there with the best as it stands now

If Galvin gets to any of those two players levels I’ll be extremely surprised

Moses and Tedesco had much higher credentials than what Galvin is showing when they left. Admittedly I didn’t think Moses would end up as good as he has, but both of them showed a heck of a lot of promise behind much weaker squads imo

The feeling is also totally different, it will feel like a huge weight taken off our shoulders when Galvin leaves, whereas it was basically the apocalypse when those 2 guys left. Particularly Teddy
Yeah Moses is the most comparable although he was also much further along both in age and experience than Galvin. I don't remember being too disappointed when he left - I do remember being very angry with the way it happened.

I just think Galvin has the tools to be very successful and I don't think the attitude, problems with teammates etc are at all comparable with Hastings. But as you say, I couldn't care less if he goes on to play 300 games - good riddance to bad rubbish.

Seeing a few people mad at the transfer fee, correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure another team or LG has to pay this just to begin negotiations with other teams.

Once he has signed with another team we can look at their roster and see if we can get a player for his early release.
That is what one of the journos has said might be going on. So I’m hoping once a team is picked we still get a player in trade.

This is exactly the reason why Galvin going to the dogs is a massive risk. Ignoring last nights result with 11 players out, you start shuffling positions in a performing team to make way for an unproven kid who just screwed his last club and coach, keeping in mind the Penrith player connection you would have to think it will be a huge disruption.
Also someone in the well performing team will need to be moved on to make room for him, only certain amounts of spots come game day, I'd imagine some players might be upset a mate had to be let go to accommodate him, considering without him they were leading the comp, so their mate gets punted for no reason.

We'll rue losing him eventually.
Not as a 5/8th but as a competitor and as a genuine footballer.

In real terms any club could fit Galvin into their cap if they only have to pay his current contract remaining for this year and then merely top up in future years.
Parra or bulldogs would have no trouble fitting in half or a third of his $250,000
reserve grade player at that cost

We can't save the money. There's also a salary floor, set at 95% of the salary cap, that's to the RLPA. They're part of the problem.
It is the stupidest rule the N.R.L have on their books. Penrith spend a minimum 95% of their salary cap and win 4 grand finals. We spend 95% of the salary cap and win 3 wooden spoons, yet we're led to believe because both teams have invested nearly as much as each other on their squads, both squads are even. It's laughable. Clubs should be able to save cap space and bring it forward to offer better money to players to entice them across to help get them off the bottom of the ladder. The top teams would be spending their allotment, but the smaller teams could save to go hard after a few years to use the cap plus all the extra cap they've saved over the previous seasons to help rebuild the squad.

So in hindsight, who plays 6 instead?
I would have revolved them. Galvin, Bud, Fainu, maybe Mason, later in the year Doueihi....last year should have been treated as a preparation for Luai coming. Allowing a 19 year old kid to do whatever the F he wanted in a clear advertisement of his skills to rival clubs was ridiculous. In no way did it prepare him for 2 years with Jarome, in no way did it prepare the outside backs to play with him.

I for the life of me do not understand the pedestal that Richo has been put on. Sure, he’s been successful elsewhere, but he hasn’t done anything significant since he took the reins here. Nothing has changed since Pascoe left, and if he were overseeing this Galvin fiasco, and it was playing out the same way, there would be rallies, petitions, boycotts, the lot.
This is not the first time you have had a swipe at Richo, could he have done anything better since he's been here.
If you have no time for him, who would you swap him for to do a better job.
