OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Interesting that some of the best young talent in the halves is coming through away from the Sydney media spotlight. There is nothing in Galvins game that elevates him from the likes of Strange, Sharpe, Katoa, maybe Purdue - havnt watched him enough - yet the talk has been ridiculous and still is.
We (Wests Tigers) are responsible for that.
We told the world we had the next superstar and the talking heads ran with it.

Don’t go doing to Latu what we did to Galvin.
Latu was great against a very weak Roosters side, yet shit against a weak Warriors side.
He is a work in progress just as Lachlan is.

Undoubtedly…Latu has got a long way to go…

he seems shy which isn’t the best trait for a halfback trying to order his forwards and two older brothers round the park … we know Galvin by comparison has no problems with his confidence in his own abilities ….

Where I see that Latu will eventually become a better player is that he has got some zip whilst Galvin is a turtle…the better teams defensively won’t respect his lack of pace and will cut down his time by rushing up on him …he has 13 written all over him if he can put on the weight ..would need to up his defence to be anything more at that position than average ..
“Always” ... and yet keen league judges, former stars and even immortals kept raving about how good he was.

Funny game rugby league 🥴

Do you think Canterbury is going better or worse since he joined?

Yep along with Michael Ennis. Joey and Mathew Johns and quite a few others…like Cronk and Alexander were also very premature in their high praise.
Said the same thing about Ash Taylor too. Joey likes anyone who holds the ball in two hands and throws the occasional good cutout. Generally a good commentator but he does get obsessions with certain players.

Braith Anasta, Bryan Fletcher and Brandon Smith all talk about the jury still being out on Galvin... There are plenty others, these are just the ones i recall...

And to Speed2burns point, last year Galvin wasn't playing #7 directing a team around, Sezer did that for the tigers. Galvin played a ball running 6 role to no structure... So it was like park footy, but in the NRL... Give any half decent playmaker freedom to do what he wants and he's probably going to come up with some diamonds between all the rocks...

Galvin has more creativity than sexton.. so anything he does now with any sort of creativity, it's going to be like he invented the light bulb... But it's just cause they are coming from a low base...

He is a good player, but the jury is still out - especially as a 7.

Me too. But last night is proof that death riding him is a pointless endeavour.
He definitely can ice those clutch moments that players like brooks can’t. That is an X factor that is certainly valuable. You have to weigh up that against his personality (the selfishness, the finger pointing at team mates) and the overplaying of his hand (which will improve).

Honestly, that’s just the side you see and hate cos of what he did to us. Would you really care about that trait if he was still here, pulling off match winning plays?
